Final week of flower question

I've heard of putting your plants into complete darkness for a certain number of days, (2 weeks i believe from the source im thinking of) at the end of flowering to force them to produce more thc filled glands, and im wondering if putting a few layers of black plastic trash bags around it will work to keep them in darkness, or if this will not let the plant breathe and kill it. I need to do this because i have company coming into town and im putting plants in my attic. want to keep in darkness but theres some light in there. Well complicated i know, but any help/thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.:-|

see if you can find like a big cardboard box, I think that would work better but I don't think the trashbags would hurt a thing.

So good it would be ok to put the plant in darkness for 6 days up in the attic, do you think the smell would be bad from 2 3 ft tall plants? also if the plant stresses too much in the 6 days of darkness would it start throwin out nanners and turn hermie? idk just a noobie. Thanks for any additional help.

I don't think two weeks of dark is necessary. 24hrs is all the more needed, the plants would benefit more from two weeks of light than dark.

I agree w/ wrocks......... I'd wait til I think the plant is done and THEN wait 1 more week of flowering before I cut it down. 1-2 days of darkness is reported to increase THC but I don't really notice a difference.

This would normally be all well and good and i would let the plant go another few weeks if i could, but i have company coming into town like i said and the grow room is the closet of our guest room. This is my problem. So instead of leaving it in its normal 12 12 i have to take it out of there and go to attic where light schedule will be different than the current 12 12 and pry revert or hermie or something anyways. Unique situation i guess maybe no one has ever run into something like this before. I just want to take out the plants right before they come to town, then chop when company leaves. If its a bad idea and i should just chop early ill do that, just lemme know thanks.

Its hard to say that 6 days would be too much and have the plants do something funny. If theres anyway you can even get some light just to hold them over for a few days then you can do like 2 or 3 days I think if you really had to. When I say any kind of light I really mean almost any kind of light just to make them wake up and sleep. Then dark them out for a few days If needed

If your a week out just put them up there. If you have light and dark times. They will live a week but won't grow much.

Thanks for the advice i think ill do that, water them once more really well then put them in the attic. Then I will chop after the company leaves at least this will give me another 5 days of letting the buds ripen up as well. Thanks now i feel better about doing that.
All help appreciated,

so youre saying i should just chop it early? i cannot do anything with the plant during the time company is here (6 days) i e water it or anything. So unless there isnt a better option, and if there is one please let me know, i either have to chop it or let it sit up in the attic and maybe itll ripen or maybe it would screw the plant up somehow. Any gurus lemme know, thanks!

i would only leave the plant in 36 hours of darkness before i chopped it and i would cut it earlier rather than later. but if your worried about smell then i would def cut it later because drying it is going to be the stinkiest part. can u not move the light to the attic? or even move the plants outdoors? all depends where you are i guess

Yeah, im with FarmerNinja...from what I read 36 hours is about the most you want to give it...anymore than that (48 hrs etc) wont give you much difference. Also, dont do it for any more...like 2 weeks is a waste...you would be better leaving it under lights for two weeks to fatten up!

I asked the very question last year when I read it in Jorges book...wanted to double check as well :)

So yeah, leave your ladies in for as long as possible...my last two grows were chopped a little too early...even tho we used the x60 mag to check the trichs. We grew Strawberry Haze (12 week'er) and we left it in for 13...tbh it could of used 15. I will never go with a 100% Sativa again for that reason...just too long to wait haha!

Go with what you were going to do. even if it dies during the 6 days. you'll get more time on it. I think it will live if it's getting light and dark time. you might need to try and give it water about day 3 to keep it going. I bet the plants are drinking alot atm.

Yea you got that right, chugging id say about a half gallon a day for a 3 ft tall plant. Thanks for the advice ill post later and let you all know how it turned out, whether or not it threw some nanners or buds swell or whatever may come. I will make sure once company is all out of house to sneak up to water once. I was thinking that too, 6 days is just too long for no water. Anyone whos tried this and experienced results please post and let me know how it worked for you.
Thanks
