Hi Guys,
I'm going to be growing under one 400 hps,my plan is between 4-6 plants MAX.As i only want this amount of plants i still want a good yeild so i'm thinking along the lines of average size bushy Indicia strains.
What size final pots should i go for,any idea's Guys? Maybe 6 Litre's? Bigger?
Any strain suggestions would be much appreciated.Photo's or Auto's? i'm not to bother which type.

Many thanks
S

The biggest containers that will fit within your lights throw. Tests have shown great yield with very large tubs with 3 plants in each. Thus 3 22 gallon tubs would be perfect for 6 to 9 plants. I use 22s myself and would never go back to anything less than 13 gallon. Once the plant can stand on its own and begins developing roots go big! Those who claim you can go too big should post real evidence by study, not opinion. I grew guerrilla for years. Dug my holes in Fall and composted in them all winter. 3' X 3' and as deep as I could manage. I'll be damned if I ever went back and dug new and bigger holes and transplanted in August with a Mexican sativa about 12' tall with a stem as thick as a bat handle.

No more with a 400 but supplement with a few CFL if possible.

Look at seed sellers for "easy to grow". Attitude has that search. Others may as well. Avoid sativas. Finicky and too big and take too long. The closer to pure indicas the shorter the grow and the less light needed. I suggest pure indicas for you. They use much less light (about 30%), are generally shorter and are hardy.

I grow outside, so I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that 400W HPS would handle a three cubic feet grow area or nine square feet of floor space. One square foot is roughly seven gallons of soil and would produce a small 3 foot plant. Sativas normally get 15' - 20' without fertilizers and Indicas average 5' to 6' feet. If you could only grow a three foot tall plant, it'd be almost a waste to get anything but an auto flowering strain.

An Auto-Indica would be ideal for such a small space since they normally average 2ft without doing anything special. You'd also save on fertilizer and you'll be able to turn a crop out every three months. If your just starting out and learning to grow, I can't think of anything easier then an auto-indica strain.

11 litres if you veg for 4-5 weeks, after starting them in small starter pots.
if you do a 6-8 week veg then 15-18 litre pots will be good.you dont need no 7 + gallon pots for your set up,thats ridiculous.

i go from 5 inch starter pots then onto 7L pots for a 5 week veg then 14L pots for flower(when put in the 14L pots i leave them for another week to veg so the roots can start exploring)
