yeah its fucked up how doctors are with anti-depressants they just try and solve every ones problem's with them and all it do's is create more
when i was a child about 7 years old or so the started giving them to me and they hadnt even tested them on adults yet i was a 7 year old ginny pig because i had trouble focusing in class and i had a reaction to the med's witch literally paralysed me for 6 months cause it swelled up all the muscles in my spine .
That is some SERIOUS fucked up, and too many people just believe whatever their docs tell them. I make mine make an argument, and some of them get pissed. Fuck 'em, it's MY goddamned body and MY goddamned treatment you're talking about. I want to know, to KNOW, that you're prescribing based on something more than the latest and greatest that pharmaceutical rep just fed you. And that's a big problem, to be truthful, in that many doctors will give out those samples they get without even reading up on the indications and contraindications.

Yeah, I expect you to earn it, I expect you to talk to me about the science, I expect you, Mr. Doctor, to do your BEST, not what's easiest. And don't be a patronizing fuck about it, either, or you'll not be seeing me.

side affects of lyrica are really SCAREY... be careful is all im saying...

my gf of three years had fibro and the ONLY thing that seems to ease her pain is pot. i dont get why all her doctors want her to take is anti-depressents (like 2 or 3 different ones at once). she says its hell on them, almost like she is in a fog and lack emotion.
ISo many patients get prescribed anti-depressants for fibro because there is a lot of depression with the disorder but only because the entire body is suppressed. People with this disorder have immune deficiencies and it effects the mind/body and spirit.

Because they don't take the disorder/disease seriously. They think it's in her head. Besides, if she's medicated she won't complain so much. My dad's a doc, and I learned a long time ago how to be a bitch with them, but that doesn't improve treatment by unqualified physicians. Is there any way she can find someone who specializes in fibro, or at least accepts that it exists and will treat her problem instead of her head?
My best gurlfriend goes to a specialist and has for about the past 7 years. She is a fibro specialist and a therapist and has done wonders for her. She got her off the pain meds and anti depressants and is doing some talk therapy with her. I wish I could find a counsellor like that.

No kidding! People do trust doctors to easily and get sucked in to the wrong meds. Most doctors do the easiest thing and that is to prescibe drugs. Period!

The problem also sits with Dr.s who get perks from drug companies. They get shit from pot sellers, if they did everyone with the sniffles would end up with a bag-o-herb.
I've got emphysema and I couldn't afford my meds.(spiriva), it's $100.00 per month. My Dr. would give me a 5 month supply for free saying, I get it for free.....Luckily now I pay 0 for all my meds. Gov. pays it all.........ya Quebec

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia 2 years ago and my doctor whom I've had for 29 years now, prescribed a large amount of perks for me each month. I was to take them as often as I needed them each day and I did. It took me awhile to realize that they weren't working because I was always right ripped so I went back and told her I really didn't like them at all and was there something else she could give me. She said I could take SROM but I refused that one. She then told me off the record that the best thing I could do was to find an "herb" that was right for me and use it as often as necessary. Needless to say I am out and about almost every day now and I don't have to worry if my husband is here in the morning to help me out of bed because I can't do it myself, and I can live my life a hell of alot more normal and almost pain free. I think marijuana should be prescribed for all of us who suffer from fibromyalgia... better yet, I think we should be able to grow our own for medicinal purposes without being harrassed and without fear of going to prison and losing our children and everything we have worked so hard for. I grow Jack Herer and I find it to be a good pain reliever and it sure beats the snot out of being addicted to perks.

My fibro friend had to do rehab to get off the SROMs. They really fucked her up, she stopped womanating, always either had diarrhea or was constipated, and when I worked for her I never knew what I'd be walking into when I went to work each day.

i was wondering whats the best strain for my Fibromyalgia and anxiety ?and is there any one else on here that uses mary-j for there Fibromyalgia also if so send me a pm or please reply ?
For my pain and everything else I prefer the numbing, relaxing, opium like high of the Kush varieties.

Some sativas are good as well, but I prefer the kush.I used "Dutch Passion" recently and it was very helpful. You will need to switch strains. Don't smoke the same thing for too long. Every time I switch to something different, it always seems to work better. Experiemt, see what works best for you.

I have a coop in Hesperia, Ca. If your anywhere near me, I would love to be of some help.

as you can see, I am a newbie and just beginning to learn about strains. I knew the kush/Sativa thing because I have fibromyalgia and read that the kushes are better for pain, tried out the theory and the article was right. Learning fast tho. How about you?

I have fibromyalgia and Marijuana saved my life. A year ago I was bed ridden, phsycially and emotionally a mess.... I couldn'touldn't even get out of bed for days.. Now I am growing fruits and vegatables, herbs and flowers and starting a new business of helping others get their lives back with this amazing plan. I got off all the poisen prescription drugs that were making me sicker. I have started a medical marijuana co-op (thanks prop 215). Check it out @ [email protected] and soon to be www. myspace. com/lovingherbs...

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Fibromyalgia is a very painful, complex disease causing spasm of muscles and accompanying nerves and has been a contentious puzzle to both victims and their doctors.

It seems nobody has the slightest idea what causes it and its symptoms and signs can be so diverse that it has been called the "invisible disease" with no specificity except the victim's typical statements that, "I hurt all over. "Most doctors reaction or response to a patient presenting with the above just responded with "It's all in your head," or alternatively "You just want drugs." This is and was incorrect, they wanted relief!

The self-hypnosis of many doctors was usually that depression causes fibromyalgia. This decries the fact that chronic pain does cause depression. One very prominent doctor in Oregon made an international reputation for himself by treating hundreds of patients with a very widely used anti-depressant, amitriptyline (Elavil). It helped their depression but it didn't help much for their fibromyalgia pain and spasms.

Another of the attempts to treat the painful muscle spasms was with cyclobenzaprine (Flexaril) which my patients told me just made them dopey or feel stupid. This is just not too good for someone who has to work.

Anti-seizure drugs such as gabapentin (Neurontin) have been tried. I tried this myself for causalgia, severe burning pain in my feet caused from damage to my sacral nerves. It made me so dopey and dysfunctional I called my neurosurgeon and told him I wouldn't prescribe it to my worst enemy. I do have a former patient who takes it in high doses for severe discogenic disease. His wife says he is now completely disabled AND dysfunctional.

Some other medications have been tried, success has been minimal.

It was not a surprise to me to read of successful trials in Germany for fibromyalgia with THC, the medicinal chemical in cannabis/marijuana. I have about 100 fibromyalgia patients using marijuana/cannabis very effectively. It is known that cannabis has good analgesic, antispasmodic and euphoriant actions.

It is also known also that the body produces endo cannabinoids, anandamide and 2AG also produce analgesia, antispasm and euphoriant actions, and that plant and natural cannabinoids are better than any other chemical/pharmaceutical trial drug or combination.

It is estimated that 5% to 7% of the population has fibromyalgia. This means that several million patients in the U.S. are afflicted. I note that Eli Lilly & Company are advertising a new drug for fibromyalgia. Three years ago they ballyhooed a drug for ADD. It was a bust. Eli Lilly was once a leading producer of cannabis medicines. I think they should go back to that, it works.

Try a good indica. The dopier the better for the pain (usually). Good Luck

Wow somebody that can spell that shit !

My wife suffers from that fibro crap & it kicks her ass, some days she's right as rain & others she's destroyed,so far all strains work just as good for her as long as the smoke is strong & on hand for her to use before the pain set's in too deeply.
Bless both of your hearts. We are not the only one's that suffer, our families do as well.
