FFOF Vs Roots Organic Soil~Pictures=Proof

is the yellowing in the lower fan leaves on your RO plants possibly a N deficiency? if the RO soil isnt quite as loaded with nutrients like FFOF is, then using the same nutrients in feeding both soils isnt really a good test. if the plants in RO are deficient, that would explain the slowed growth and bud production. it looks like there are more tops developed for the RO plants, so if more nutrients were added is it possible that soil would actually outperform FFOF?

edit: after looking at the pictures again, the red dwarf in RO is definitely potassium deficient along with the probably nitrogen deficiency

It caused me a ton of trouble about 3 weeks ago after a transplant. Mixed the other two bags I had into my vegetable garden. Hopefully I pull $50 worth of tomatoes out of that patch.

I do like fox farms light warrior and will continue to use it for germinating my seedlings. I've read good things about happy frog. HF is suppose to be ff's top of the line soil.

I've never used roots, but I'm done paying top dollar for soil that still disappoints.

Hey Ganj do you really need perlite in FFOF soil, because I'm using without perlite under my same old thread Northern Lights Right now I'm growing 1 plant again and she's a LAWoman same old thread though. Does it make a lot of difference if so I have plenty perlite.

It does make a big difference for me. It helps with drainage and root growth for FFOF. I add about 15%-20% and it works great!

Yeah I agree with SS. Perlite allows air in the soil which increase root mass which in turns makes the top half what it is.

what an awsome thread OP great idea/job!!! this litterally asnwered ?s I had and would have had to ask somewhere else so thanks and +rep.

btw I am a new 1st time grower and I researched the hell out of FFOF and others. Being a newgrower and reading all the 'OF nute burn/OF bad drainage' stuff everywhere I decided to do a lil experiment. I bought the OF as well as Pro-Mix BX. I took my seeds (AK-48s from Nirvana and Northern Lights Autos from Nirvana) and planted them in different variations of the soils. The AKs went to OF only while I took 2 other AKs and put them in a OF/ProMix 50/50 mix. Then I took the Autos and put most of them in the Pro-Mix only, with sticking 2 of the autos in a OF/Pro-mix 50/50 mix. I did put 1 auto in 100% OF soil. Now they are 22 day old seeldlings and have been in the soil pots for 10 days and I must say that the FFoF ONLY seedlings are doing/looking better than the 50/50 mixes. The autos in the Pro-mix only are looking pretty good too but I'd have to give it to the Of. I have been taking pix of them along the way so if anybody is interested I can put up the pix, if I can figure how to:)

I hope this post isnt considered thread-jacking and if it is I truely am sorry GoldenGanja! I just thought that it would interest some people--- Happy growing!

When it gets say 6 nodes high, take off the very bottom stems (first set only) I always practice this because I belive it is a waste of time to allow them to grow past a certain point. Then I top so I have a more even canopy of veg. Must act fast though, time is precious and you don't want to top a flowering plant. Being you are a FF soil grower you know the plant will responded well to the soil and grow fast and tall before flowering occurs.

you should have added another part to your Fox Farm vs. Roots Organic test... you should have grown 2 more plants in a 50/50 mix of FF & RO to see if you would get the best of both worlds... all the height and branching from the roots organit and the leafy, fullness and buds you got with the FF!

First off I would not want height/stretch. Makes longer travel time from roots to buds. I have one LA CON in RO and I am feeling so sorry for her, she just now after 45 days looks like a nice plant. Took for ever for her to grow up. That RO keeps your babies in slow mode forever, then when you flower the buds (so far) lack.

Here is an Update taken this am. The 2 strains grown in FFOF are doing great. The buds are getting thicker and thicker and long cola like. The 2 strains in RO are still pop corn like bud, and spread out. :joint:
