Have any of you guys tried that promix organic? I grabbed a bag at a surplus store. 2 cubic ft. for $4. Id thought of mixing it up with perlite, dolomite lime and some Dr. Earth Flower girl. Is this a decent medium or should i just give it to the wife and buy something else?

Some New blood - KKP King Kong Poison ( gg4 x Durban Poison) X Purple Punch ( Larry OG x GDP )

Some germed plants are SOLO planted with a variant of my typical soil mix and some in a coco mix.

Ok ok … i know this is a “ soil “ thread but because i do my most spontaneous shit while high - i changed a few things again .

I Swear i will leave this way. :bigjoint:

I was looking over the cups and decided to pull 3 of the layered soil plugs out and convert them over to HEMPY. Using grade # 3 perlite chunks ( no vermiculite ) . I mixed some “ baby formula “ clonex gold liquid as a seedling feed. It works well for this use.

Perlite was pre-washed ( dust ) and plant plug added.
So i have 3 soil / 3 hempy / 4 coco and one plug added to slightly larger container ( that one will be part of a “ special thread “ pretty soon. LOL.

I adjust light power to about 350 par ( ppfd ) over them to start. Most are on risers to even the canopy level. Not very concerned about any excessive stretch at this point since i will bury accordingly in transplant.

18/6 cycle

I will continue with my layered mix grows throughout this thread so stay tuned. I am experimenting again.

About to start a new grow (seeds germed and ready for soil) and will be using coast of Maine stonington blend this go round. Will also be using their dry ferts plus recharge and calmag (if needed). Hoping to not make the mistake like I did last go round where I added way too much extra ferts and EWC to my FF layered mix.

Add extra perlite to the stonington soil or no?

Extra perlite / pumice or rice hulls are fine.

Did add extra perlite and FFHF plug for the seedlings.

It looks good. Perlite is cheap. Do rinse it off with water and wear a mask if theres any dust. Its bad to breathe. It sounds like you have a good plan. The dry amendments are awesome. I wont go back to bottled nutes in soil. Hey, if you really wanna go green check out the P.I.S.S. thread. Theres more than a couple ways to get your nutes. . I swear it works. Better than id hoped.

Yes the perlite is nasty dusty. I always make sure I’m up wind of the mix when dumping it out.

I was very surprised and happy at how nice the stonington blend looked. Very fine without sticks and shit like the Happy Frog soils.

I’d like to eventually try the recipe 420 soil but haven’t been able to locate anyone that will ship to the east coast, not even Amazon sellers. Seems like EB Stone only has distributors/dealers on the west coast.

It’s kind of like “ my version “ out of probably many others , but I wanted most growers not to read too much into this medium. It works very well on its own , that should speak well of its blend.

For regs , you can top dress the pelletized fert and water in or continue top dress for recharge.

I’ve been slowly pulling away from “ bottle Nutes “ for soil. And will only run them with Hempy.
I don’t get anywhere near as much purple stems or off balanced deficiencies.

Although silica actually does have some value in hardening a plant ( environment) , i just let them run and get done. I’m sure many will tweak the medium , but mostly it does well by itself.

i did exactly what you laid out , but i also added 2 cups of fir bark as well , im hoping the acidity helps out with the nearly 8ph i have running outta my tap . Im trying 2 autos in a 10 gallon pot indoors over the winter for shits n gigs , heheh was almost considering using your piss method , maybe next run

Been using the basic method BB layed out for over 2 years now and the P.I.S.S. method for my last 3 runs. This current run im using FFOF with 20% perlite and a layer of Dr. Earth Flower Girl about an inch from the bottom of the container. I use the Pee as liquid nutes cut 1 part to 10 parts water. Only thing else i use is calmag every other watering and they just cruise. Screwed up( high as hell) and poured straight pee on 2 plants and got the claw... straight water and its gotten a bit better. People can say what they want but my grows have gotten easier and cost me less.

I’ve been doing coast of Maine stonington blend and pleased with the results. This recent run I added some FFOF for the bottom third Of the pot. Only thing throwing me off is some inter-veinal yellowing. Treated with Epsom salts which didnt help much so this current run I decided to use filtered water and add calmag every other watering. Has been slightly better…4 mephisto deez nuggz stuffed in a 2.3’x2.3’ tent.

Great thread!
I typically use Natures Living Soil snd 50/50 ffhp and FF CocoLopez. I am thinking of trying the living soil with 50/50 Ffof and FF Cultivation Nation. What do you think?
How would 50/50 Ffof and ff Cultivation Nation

Lately ive been using 50% FFOF, 30%Promix Organic and 20% perlite. A shotglass of Dr. Earth Flower Girl in a layer 2 in from the bottom and thats it. I think any decent medium mIxed with FFOF and perlite will work. Oh and BB got me into this Natures Gold nutrient line. Its the whizz!

That is the core of this thread - simple experimentation with layering. No multi bottle bullshit , just recharging host medium as necessary.
