Feminized seeds?

Hey guys and gals! I have a newbie question for ya...

What exactly are "feminized" seeds? Are they guaranteed to be females? If not, what are the percentages that they will be? (though if there isn't any guarantee, I guess I really don't see the point in paying 2-3 times the price for them being "feminized")

i order fem seeds and i never had a hermy or a male seed..

If you got it may as well do it.

they are made by putting giberilic acid on a female plant causing it to make male flowers, but since there is no male plant its all female genes so you get female plants, the female seeds that tend to go hermie are the ones that are stressed in to producing pollen

Yeah, I really like the idea of only having to buy a seed or two of each strain and being able to grow a mom from it, sounds like it'll definitely be easier and quicker that way.

Sounds like I'll be picking up a couple feminized mixed packs to try out soon!

How do you go about doing that? Do you add the acid that the other poster mentioned to your female plant that you want to produce fem. seeds? If so, how do you apply the acid to the plant?
