FEMINIZED SEEDS = GMO?

Anyone can make feminized seed's though so I don't believe it's genetically modifying, but the process that is the proof in the pudding LOL, like a Monsanto's is directly trying to genetically modify in order to control a market where they sell all the seeds, they take and sell sterilized seed so you have to buy from them over and over again, win win for them.

yea, i heard a breeder say fems are gmo and it made sense to me. spraying shit on your plant is modifying the genes. but doesnt the plant makes its own fem seed in nature? lol

That doesnt actually alter the genes though.
So not gmo..

And yes many varieties naturally create fem seeds and pollinate themselves in nature.

Yes males and females are produced in nature each and every day. I guess any kind of breeding could be considered making gmo's but we make them for the purpose of making better strains and medicine for all, not the sinister sterilization market or to wash out the genetics so no one would be able to produce what they have. I may have a good book on this, let me check the Library!

More of a generic manipulation rather them modification. Do i agree with it idk it has its place but i rather use regs

There's Hormonal manipulation and genetic manipulation these things are not the same.

You're blurring lines when you start calling things like selective breeding genetic modification.

Look at actual modified foods, there are some extreme examples out there, the difference between them and a feminised cannabis seed is great. Scorpion venom in lettuce is a good one.

I take issue with this shit, Most of these were modified to increase yield and prevent disease and have been proven safe by independent studies. The massive food shortages we would suffer if these steps weren't taken would be devastating. Mainly due to poor farming practices but that's besides the point.

As for Dairy they are going to say our Cows are genetically modified because of what? growth hormones?

Shit's just another scare tactic.

I'm a 100% organic grower, I believe growing organically is better for the plants and the things they produce that said I would grow any GMO'd product that has been proven safe in my organic garden. Fuck this scare mongering shit, it's being used to drive food prices threw the roof and nothing more.

All these Anti GMO nutcases will sit there and say GMO's will give you cancer and destroy your immune system then they go microwave a hot pocket in a plastic dish for 5 minutes. There's a lot more harmful things out there then food that was specifically designed to benefit humanity.

It would be GMO if genes from a bacteria or other plant species like cucumber were used to create feminized cannabis seeds. GMO is about using DNA code (genes) from one species in another to genetically modify the latter so it can do something new or does something less, i.e. transgenesis. Can't type DNA code like a programmer (yet), so have to borrow building blocks from others organisms, then shoot them into the target organism using a gene gun or bacteria in a lab.

While that may sound nuts and scary, it works because all organisms already share a lot of their DNA. The DNA sequence of a set of genes responsible for creating protein X in humans is exactly the same in plants and animals where the same protein is created. The protein coding DNA of a human is for example for roughly 50% the same in a banana plant. That allows scientists to isolate parts of code that belong together and have specific spots (before and after it) where new genes can be added without making a mess of it.

Creating feminized seeds obviously does not require the genome of cannabis to be modified, it is already (too) good at creating fem seeds.
