Female seeds C99 mainlined grow 150W HPS

Hi,

As my last batch ran out (Aurora indica), i thought it was time to play with some sativa, as a result C99 is growing, and will be the only plant in my stealth grow, not a lot of area, but vertical space is not an issue here.

Strain - Cinderella 99 (Female seeds)
Growth medium - 14 litre organic soil
Added fertilisers - None (Molasses if i can get some here in less than 200liter drums)
Light schedule - 22/2 (Veg, HPS), 12/12 (Flower,HPS)
Sprouted - 1. of February
Plant training - Mainlining with SCrog net as a support for the branches.
Water - pH`ed from fish tank. (Plants love that water full of crap).
Watering only when needed.

As of today the plant has been topped two times and will be topped one or two more times, to get 8 or 16 main colas. Leaves are healthy, no signs of any problems. Humidity has been quite low (somewhat below 40%). Watering only with tap or fishtank water. Have not decided to go for 8 or 16 tops????

I wouldnt top it that many times,i have a grow now where i experimented by toping 2 plants 5 times, big mistake
they are half the size of untopped plants, and much smaller buds, the other 2 were topped 3 times and have about 12 main stalks,it also stresses the plant and stunts it,i think topping 3 times or less,in my experience,it will gave u what your seeking, imo

this is an actual technique called main lining where you have symetrical branches; it works out very well

Hi,
how much space do you have?
If you have lots of height i would go for 8 colas.
If you want to do properly scrog maybe 16 ,but it seems you are really tight on a space

looks great, should do well. With the smaller 150hps I'd go 16 mains, they wont be as big as 8 but that's what you want for better penetration.

When plants were still quite small i used to leave previous fan leaves to provide undeveloped growth tips with energy. As this is my first time doing this i dont even know how can something be done wrong. Top it (remove all but the main growth tips), then it will develop 2 mains, when the plant is big enough remove extra fan leaves (below the main growth tips). And repeat until you get 2,4,8,16,32 mains (from seed).

Looking at the image provided it seems you are doing it right, just in the need for a bigger container (or leave this if the plant is going to be small).

As far as stunting goes, have not seen any stunting when topping.

I`m only doing organic grow because getting the proper fertilisers in the part of Europe where I live is very difficult. I have formulated my own (from the previous grow), worked out well, with scrog from aurora indica got approx. 60grams dry.

60 grams is good how many plants in the SCROG?

Like this one, single plant grow.

I have decided to go for 8 mains, as with 4 they already are filling out more than half the space.

Pics will be up tomorrow.

What light source are you using?
Just a single 150W HPS OSRAM bulb 15000 lm (Was expensive, but as the crap USHIO bulb died had to get it quick), with Vossloh-schwabe ballast, and reflector made from shiny sheet metal which is geld together at an angle with chains, to create smooth light distribution.

I`d like to get more powerful setup, but with only 0,16 square meters, it is useless and would be too much light.

IMG_0199.jpg Start of 28.th day in vegetation, it has 8 mainlined tops, some 5 star fan leaves. Will probably leave it to build mass for two weeks until the eight tops are poking above the net, then it is flowering time.

I have taken 4 clones from last topping and there is seedling of california hash plant in the corner for a little guerilla experiment (later) at 58 north

Looking good. I'm using 404 W of CFL's @ 27000 lm and it feels just right for one plantIMG_0989.jpg28 days bloom here. I want to try scrog next interval, till then I'm trying mainliningIMG_1210.jpg I have some coated chicken wire I could do a small scrog of like 4 x 4 ltr pots, small 14-18 inch aka 35.6cm-45.72cm plants. I need the pots though, maybe even 8 ltr (2 gl). I'm keeping up with your grow, good luck keep us posted.

Little update,

I`m going to be vegging one more week just to be able to manage the canopy before the flowering strech. Filling out nicely, plants look good, still no nutrients added, as it seems would only harm them, as they look perfect. Took 4 clones from previous topping, just cut them off, sticked in flooded soil, and seems to have start growing, roots have already been established. Just need to seperate then in different containers later.

IMG_0202.jpgHere is the main plant C99, IMG_0203.jpgSome really tiny clones were taken when topped, but they seem to respond faster and better than large ones.

Day 1 in flowering in 12/12. IMG_0204.jpg Grow tips from under the net have been removed because they will get almost no light at all later on. View from below the net IMG_0205.jpg

at day 14 pistils have emerged and therefor i count this as flowering day 2. Stretch should occur sometime soon, more than enough headspace. Made activated carbon filter to 30eur in total, as i could not find any near me without massive shipping expenses. IMG_0206.jpg Not a single problem so far, but the soil seems to have very high amount of nitrogen for this plant, not visible in the photo, but some leaves are very dark, watering with simple tapwater now. I`m aming to pull about 60 grams dry from this plant, but have no idea of the capacity of the genetics, aurora indica was something around 60 grams with traditional SCrog. Canopy manegement is very easy and is growing evenly, after the actual mainline there is nothing left to do but to keep the plant happy and escort her till death.

Flowering day ummm 7 pistils have emerged from everywhere, plant is stretching up, looks good, and not adding any nutrients, not trimming the plant for more light uptake, if the leaves will die, then that one will be removed. IMG_0208.jpg Canopy is somewhat even, but after the pic was taken, te center shoot has been pulled down a bit.

Your grow pics look great, impressed by how your managing such a small space...hope you get to tell us about the quality & yield.
Im thinking of the C99 (female seeds) as well for my first ever grow in a few months time. Any advice for the first-timer? was thinking to grow 4 plants (DWC & LED) in a tent 80x80x180cm using 'main-lining'. I read they don't bush out much, more of a straight grow with a heavy central cola so my space might be fine I thought. Good luck & hope you grow many more.

Peace
