feeding schedule for recirculating systems with clay pebbles?

Kinda depends on your set up a little bit. I have hydroton in pots and I top feed.

For seedlings I water every 3 hours or so. Then as they get bigger that gets lower and lower depending on how much they are drinking.

Atm I am in flower watering every 40min for my set up.

I only water for about 15 or 20 seconds. I play with that a small amount also.

I top feed & recirculate 24/7. I top up the res with half strength nutes every other day or when needed. My res is 200 litres, once Ive added/topped up 100 liters, which will take about a week, I drain & clean the the res & refill with new nutes

In the two previous posts you find the extremes that people use to feed their top feed hydroton buckets.... Hydroton doesn't wick any water, so why restrict your water.. I use hydroton top feed drip, and also recommend 24/7 feed. The only drawback I've found is the added heat from a submersible pump, and air stones.. You can cool the water, or use some type of additive to prevent the root rot that the higher temps can cause.. With a 24/7 drip on hydroton, you can eliminate the air stones.. The constantly wetted surface area of hydroton will add more than enough dissolved O2 for the plant.. That's not just my opinion, it's a proven fact.

I played with this a bit and didn't really find a difference between running 24/7 and running 1 minute every hour.

Whatever you do, don't let that hydroton dry out completely or salts will accumulate.
