The substrate is more involved than it needs to be.

Always remember that this organism is a primary and secondary decomposer.

It breaks complex materials down to the nutrients it needs, the opposite of plants.

It breaths oxygen and releases carbon dioxide.

So it in essenceessence, creates it's own nutrients from the substrate.

It will grow on decomposing grass, straw, cardboard, dog food, grain etc.

The only thing you really have to do is ensure the correct pH range and moisture content.

Cubes aren't going to grow on dog food or grass etc.. You are talking about a completely different level of psilocybes there. The ps. Cyanescens & such
