Since the fan leaves take in the light and make the food to feed the growing buds, I'd say no.... don't cut them if they are healthy.

If you really think you need to do this then why not try tucking a few fans under other fans. I did this and it worked for me :D

dude im in veg, its bout 18" and it has like 9 nodes. i removed most of my fan leaves to let light under the top canopy, left 3 huge ones but i have about 12 bud nodes all at the top canopy producing fan leaves that dosent compromise her neighbor growth. shes a mom so i want big clones for SoG.

dont take off fan leaves. they'll cept MAYBE the lowest ones as they don't really get much light anyways, but that depends on the height of your plant and the light! best rule of thumb is don't take anything off! the plant will know when it's done with 'em and will take back all the nutrients it can from em and they'll turn yellow and fall off. remove em then

am currently doing this. i have 10 plants in there andit is a 430 watt hps. thinking i can get denser buds by rmoving the leaves that do not produce bud.

I once remove all the fan leaves from my kids after week 6 on an 8 week strain. I don't think I got an once of extra bud but they did get really frosty. Maybe it was from the stress? Just thought I'd add that but I don't have an answer for your question. Either way, they look great so keep it up!

I ll follow the trend and go with no trimming unless the leafs are sick. Nature knows best, leafs have a reason to be there....

i know im late but if i could sacrafice a fan leaf for a cola which is gonna grow more fan leaves anyways then so be it. but i see how extreme guys must of taken it when i said i had taken most the fan leaves off i meant off the main stem then i topped it. it was left with a canopy of green and light under growth cause everything was headed up to the top fast!
