What I do is I mix up the water with micro bloom an cal mag set the ph to 5.8 and ppm to about 400. Works great for me everytime. I use the blocks from botanicare. Sometimes I don't even soak it. I'll break down the block until I think I got enough coco then start dumpping the nute water on. Reason why I do this is because coco normally has no nutrient value and it's calmag defficient tends to mess with plants. So I figure load it up before I use it. Like a fertilizer.

Most of the time I don't plant seedlings in coco. Soil I found to be the easiest. Even then though wouldnt you consider the amount of nutes in ffof a bit high for seeds? Lol Im assuming you can set it to 250 for a more preferred ppm setting for seedlings. You gotta remember though that the cal mag issue with coco is most likely going to be your biggest issue. Unless you remember to compensate for it. Every single watering my plants get some sort of cal mag.

Yeah, it's a great medium once the clones are ready for transplant. But for starters IMO go with what you know. And coco isn't too easy lol.

I use Riot Root Plugs for my seedlings and its works good to pop right in CoCo.

Insane, I agree about CoCo isnt too easy. For some odd reason I have problems during the seedling stage/early veg phase with coco and getting dialed in. Once I get passed that, its flawless and I love the results.

Right now I'm doing my first coco run. So far it seems pretty amazing stuff not gonna lie I'm really happy. Also compared to hydro I can jam pack these girls lol. But as far as yield go, this will be sorta like a trial weigh in lol.

I finished only 1 coco grow and it was very nice. I also have another coco grow now of a cross I made 12/12 from bean. CoCo is amazing with a smart pot or air pot!!!

No issues at all, once the root pops out the bottom I up can them and start at about 25% dosage of nutes. I used X Nutrients on this grow and never once did I have to add Cal Mag into the baseline. 3 part Grow, Micro, Bloom. I did use Silica Shield and Mother Of All Blooms (MOAB) as supplements.

EDIT: I also use the Riot Plugs for cloning and done them without any cloning gels or powder. They work nicely for all mediums IMO.

I see a lot of people get good results with coco. I plan on using coco from now on.. It's cheaper and easier to lug around compared to a 1.5-2.5 cubic bag of soil. I know once I know exactly what to use it will be a breeze.

Yeah I agree a 5 lb brick is nothin compared to some of those 50 lb bags. Last time I bought coco I got half a pallet. I'm never running out lol. Plus IMO it's fairly easy to go to coco from hydroponics because you treat it the same, well I do anyways lol, haven't had too much problems. Although I am noticing their slightly weaker, flimsy wise, very flexible. I think it may be caused by a lack of silica? Im going to start upping the dosage of silica per feeding.
