heres the deal....we lost trash service for like a week or so and had trash in the garbage waiting to go to the dump....in the mean time some little fruit flys made there way in there to the trash, and now some have gotten in the grow room (little bastards)!! anyways theres quite a few of them now and i gotta get rid of them....we've had them before in the kitchen and we took a two liter bottle and cut the top off and flipped it upside down in the bottom of the bottle to make a funnel....then filled it with cider vinegar and it trapped them....is that the best way to get rid of em without damaging my plants....i thought about even spraying the soil with a light soap/water solution....any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!
it seemed like some even came out the soil when i touched the soil....will they mess up my plants, roots, or buds at all??

They, by themselves, shouldn't cause too much damage, but you need to worry about what else they might bring in. If you don't want to spray them with anything, fly paper will catch the little bastards without touching the plants. Of course, if you have access to chopsticks and Daniel LaRusso available, you won't have a fly problem for long ;)

hell as many as i have now, i need Mr. Miyagi himself in there!!! lol...i had just got stoned before reading that and that was definately a good laugh!! i actually have yellow fly traps for my vegetable garden out back i dont know why i didnt think of hanging one of those in there....should i spray the soil with a little soap water to kill any eggs if they happened to lay any which i hope they didnt....

That should work on the eggs if there are any. I think 10 mLs per liter should do the trick.

One thing though- Miyagi had never caught a fly with chopsticks, so all he would end up doing is picking all of your buds for you . . . with chopsticks. Come to think of it, that still sounds pretty f*cking rad . . .

What would be rad is if Miyagi picked my bud with his chopsticks, broke it apart, and packed my bowl, then sparked my lighter with em lol

get some yellow sticky strips , use the vinegar, let your plants dry out more and they will go away. Set a fan to blow lightly over the tops of the pots and leave it.

fruit fly = fungus gnats same thing

Peace

Cover the top of your soil with like 1/2" of either perlite or sand. Then either set up a vinegar dish and a fly trap. Let your plants dry up good before the next watering. Covering the soil will keep the fungus gnats from landing and laying eggs and the fly traps and vinegar dish will trap the flying adults. Knocks em out quick every time for me

edit: just seen that you added the dish and traps.
