f#ck me im an amputee (Hallucinogens & psychological trauma)

So I have to get part of my finger removed due to complications after a severe open fracture. In some ways I'm ready for it to be done and healed as i cant even use it at this point, but a part of me is having difficulty letting go even though I feel it doesn't make sense. Another thing that I have read and heard is that 50%-80% of people that have any part of their body removed have "Phantom pain" which can range from severe pain to just an itch.
My Question is can you help the psychological healing process by using a hallucinogen or some psychoactive compound?
I have heard of some other studies and treatment similar to this but never really got a clear unbiased view of it. The opinions seem to always come from a scientist or a doctor, It seems like i haven't heard the patients point of view which seems like its the most valid.

I invite anyone to share any experience they have had with an injury and the use of hallucinogens or psychoactives to help in some way whether it be pain or your psychological outlook on the situation.

I will be also using this thread to post my own trials on myself as i go through the entire process. Also any incite on what I should try out would be appreciated, I have a very open mind so don't be shy.

To start out with I think I'm going to try mushrooms I have heard that they help with pain and psychological wellness I also like that they are natural. Also safety will be kept in mind none of the "sessions" will ever be unsupervised someone will always be present and the dosing will also start out somewhat modest.

Any input, advice, criticism, or whatever is always welcome. Thanks Vic.

I think that responsible use of these agents can help *some* psychological issues under *some* circumstances.

But if that really is your goal, how about waiting to see if you have a problem before attempting a chemical mind-altering solution?

If you want to try mushrooms because you want to try mushrooms, that's one thing, but using them for target-oriented psychotherapy is something a little different.

jogro thanks for your comment i think there are a few things i need to clear up. First off I am already having some problems with pain and just the mentality of it all as i didnt up and lose it I basically have to sit around and wait for surgery all the time not being able to use it and having to think about it, it starts to come down heavy atleast that's how I'm feeling. Second I have already tried mushrooms so its not just for the sake of trying them, I also had a very good time on and after i took them which leads me to believe there could be some good applications for it and other psychoactives. third I started this thread not aimed in any way toward mushrooms my intent is more broad than just one application and one situation I realize I can only account for one of many situations which is why its my hope that there are others with success in this realm willing to contribute. Fourth I don't think that this is fully considered a "target-oriented" treatment I think that these chemicals can have a broad spectrum of psychological help and fortification. Having made those points I have to agree with you Jogro I don't think that its the right way for every person and situation I also agree that I shouldn't be off trying a bunch of stuff before i have a better understanding of it and what it could potentially do. On the other hand I've heard about some trials with LSD but I have never heard of any medicinal trials for mushrooms. Another thing I need to throw out is that i have been dealing with psychological issues for alot of my life such as depression and anxiety and have been struggling with doctors and pills to find something that worked but i haven't had much luck so after years of trying and failing I figure its time to start looking in a different direction

Daath thanks for your comment. Haha i wish humans could regrow fingers haha im sure if you took enough LSD you would think so haha. Thanks for bringing humor to the thread dude. For real though like a lizards tail haha i wish

Thanks Vic.

Did you actually click on the link and read the story?

Also, you should check out the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies. Maps.org

It seems MDMA is a good candidate to help treat PTSD.

Holy smokes yeah i just did I thought it was a joke at first but dang that's some pretty intense stuff. like i didnt really think about the fact that deer regrow their antlers that consist of quite a bit of bone and tissue. Shit dude that's intense I bet its way expensive though. Its hard to put a price on a piece of your body and Im pretty sure i don't have enough money haha so yeah i gotta most likely need to go a different direction.

Wow maps.org is a gold mine thanks Daath. They have a ton of good ideas with a ton of documentation. One thing we need to take into account is that Marijuana is a psychedelic and has a broad range of uses everything from general pain to relieving inner eye pressure from glaucoma check out cannlabs.com for more info.
I think there has to be more to other psychedelics as well. Its a pretty arrogant to act like we know everything about these substances already. I have yet to see a study on how incredibly bad they are for your body so I'm definitely leaning toward the studies i have seen saying they have medicinal value.
Thanks Vic.

While there may be some physicaly theraputic value to the psychadelics, I believe they are mostly medicine for your spirit, your empathy, your societal senses, your inner culture

get some salvia and use that, it gives u an afterglow feeling that can last a few days. u wake up the next feeling u had the best sleep of ur life. i find the next day feeling is like ur brain was fully repaired and recharged and the most amazing crystal clear head feeling i ever had. but it works best if u had a good trip or several smaller trips in 1 day. u can try chewing it as this will work too.

basically salvia might rewire ur brain or give it a reboot. i would try this substance first.

Thank you Canndo I totally agree, Im definitely not looking so much for physical treatments as I am for spiritual and mental healing.
Thank you ANC, are you talking about Mimosa bark? Cause i think i know where i can find some of that. Thanks for the suggestion dude.
Thank you Doctor smoke, that's an awesome suggestion. I agree i think a reboot would be good, I will definitely be adding salvia to the list.
Thanks for the awesome ideas guys I definitely got more research to do not to mention finding the substances.

Thanks, Vic.
