Any one ever try a extended sweat period with one off the many bovida RH packs (62, 65, 69, 72, 75, 85 ) ? ? ?

Seems like a good idea to me since the the majority or the products broken down are durring the 'sweat period' that the longer the sweat the better ? ? ?

What about mold? I'd be worried about that, especially on larger nugs.
Great point

But im ?guessing? that the temp can be increased to avoid many of the mold problems , This should also spead up much of enzyme action up to a point atleast

I know with the home production of tobacco the sweating process often takes place at higher temp's (100-125 F) but of coarse their 2 different substances

I ran into some mold because I cut back on the burping.I was guessing at the % and guessed wrong.Luckily I caught it before it really showed it's butt. The bovida seemed to turn the erb slightly brown, but still fresh feeling, good tasting.I need to be able to tell the humidity level before I put the pack in the jar.:wall: Still learning and growing.:hump:

I have been using the 62s since they came out. I currently store for periods NOT longer than 1 yr. I monitor closely and have never had issues using the packs. I store in 500ml glass jars and have always been fresh and potent. They MAY be a little moist to pull and smoke but it vapes like a dream.

Im more interested in a actual extended sweat/ferment period, and what effects that will have on the bud
The longer you can keep the enzymes alive and active the smover the end product ?should? be ??
Potency would be lost but thats not my interest

One day I hope to experment with bud processing like one would process tobacco with a collor cure ,followed by ageing and mayabe even a flue cure or some of the more exotic methods like perique or flake, flake which sometimes can happens as a result of mexican brick

I cure in 36 1/2 gal mason jars and use the 62% packs. each jar has its own r/h meter. after a week of burping (+/-xx days), and the r/h is stable at 62-65% (no higher than 65%), I then toss in 2x 62% packs (one new and one used in each jar) and walk away. I check the r/h of each jar every day to make sure its in the optimal curing zone. I only open the jars if the r/h has risen at all. leave for 2+ weeks, then its ready to go to my patients. been using this way for 2+ years and never had any bud rot, mold, or other undesirable crap in the jars.

I will use your technique next time.I have everything butt the meters. They would've been a better tool for my guessing..I've found that you have to hold your mouth right from start to finish..:hump:

I use the Bovida's also....the 62's....I place bud in the jars and burp for the first to second week...the chloraphyl still kinda breaks down and gasses off some during that time period...then when RH is stable I store in a dark cool place...the meter stays good at 62%....then once a month I open for about 10 minutes to let any gas out....any long time storage I use a food save with a canning jar attachment and vaccum seal the jars..I still have jars filled from last years harvest and still good to go an smoke...you do loose some of the terp flavors but not bad....still taste good ...I vape alot aslo....
