Hello community i started this from seed 4 or so weeks ago and tried to "fim" it. It certainly worked for the bottom branches they went ape but can you tell whats going on with the top? First timer using seeds i was given. If my pics are good enough can someone tell me if this is indica or sativa? Does it look like its growing well.20171221_105720.jpg 20171221_105720.jpg 20171221_105614.jpg

I'd like some experienced advice also. Don't confuse this with the last question, I just thought this might be a good place to ask.

Here's 2 sprouts, same lighting, same soil, same water conditions, no obvious signs of fungus gnats, and both were germinated the same day. Brand new auto flower Amnesia Haze seeds, purchased from a very reputable vendor.

They're 1 week old now. One grew real leaves right away, the other barely has some nubs. Would it be inadvisable to clone seeds from that weaker plant? I'd planned to spray one with colloidal and use it to pollinate the other.

Separate question: See how dry the soil is? I've taken to watering only the jiffy cube when they're young, because fungus gnats ate a couple of sprouts a while back. But could the dry surrounding soil cause root problems, like shriveling up as they do when they pass through a fabric bag? Maybe it's possible to water too little without seeing that in the leaves?

Thanks to those who know the answers!

Hey man, I'm no expert, but personally, I wouldn't stress about the size difference, the amount of variables that are involved are crazy. It most like germinated slower and is just not as far along as the other.

With the cloning thing, wait and see how they grow, they're still pretty young so it would be difficult to say which would be a better option to clone.

Regarding the watering issue, I'd keep them moist but not wet, and just give them a little everyday. Eventually the leaves will get big enough and it'll be more noticeable what she needs regarding water, nutes and such.

Just keep it easy and ask lots of questions.

But that's just my two cents.

Peace out.

Thank you! Maybe what I'll do is spray the bigger one to make seeds on the little one, but in the process I'll surely get at least a few clone seeds from the bigger of them.

It's possible that your small plant has root issues. I believe it's called "damping off" when root tips are killed by fungus and the rest of the plant slowly dies. Unfortunately I've seen it several times with seedlings and even some older plants that had been overwatered.
If you yank that little sprout out of the dirt, the taproot tip is probably brown and wilted. When that happens, it's only a matter of time until the plant dies.

actually it looks good overall, i would switch out the led bulb for another cfl, just saying. Also you know you can take the shroud off that led bulb, don't you. Depending on the color you bought it might be better used in veg for 5000k or if its 3000k it would be good for flowering.....

Don't forget, people answering these questions might very well be stoned. That's true in any marijuana forum.

That's my biggest fear. Those damned gnats! If it doesn't grow faster soon, I'll give it a little tug to see if it comes up too easily.

put that other cfl in there, grab your self a cord with a 6" or 4" alum bell on it, take that diffuser off, and put it on top of that plant, now your vegging........i do a combo of cfl and led bulbs right now....got one almost finished with a 100watt equiv led bulb single.....

The problem is that the first post after the OP tried to highjack the thread with a different question and everything got screwed up.

Typical Rollitup.

As far as the OP - you may have clipped that center stalk a bit too close to the joint and it just is taking it longer to heal up, so it fell behind just a bit in the growth race with the rest of the plant.

Not to worry. It'll catch up.

As far as plant type, it looks like a hybrid. Part both.

I have 50 or so seeds all different i expect. That one there was the oddball. Very dark green.. Almost black. I didnt think it would sprout at all!

Sorry about that. Just thought, if expert eyes were looking at plants here, my question might fit in. Next time I'll start a new thread.

About the various (conflicting?) growing advice on the net. Keep in mind, most people growing want to make a profit. And it's probably illegal to grow where they do.

And so sometimes, their advice isn't actually good for someone only growing as a hobby, in a state where it's legal.

There was one guy arguing with another that auto flowers are pitiful and he should give that up, and get some seeds that can yield a full pound. It was inappropriate advice.

For example, advice for growing orchids on a commercial scale is not necessarily appropriate for growing one at home.

Pot will eventually be so mainstream, for advice you'll only need to take your plant to Home Depot and ask for the old hippy guy who works in the nursery department.
