Exhaust Fan Selection and Static Pressure

I found a sweet fan, DC current, 80 CFM 0.0 Static pressure and 82 CFM 0.25 Static pressure. $111.99 shipped!

The WhisperFit 110 CFM fan is reasonable in size and perfomance.

The WhisperFit 80 CFM is also a strong candidate.

I threw in the the value option for the hell of it.

I'm leaning towards the first option for 40 CF of space.

My question is, how to calculate static pressure for a 4" dia. duct with one 90 deg elbow an a filter?

And any comments you may have on the fans can go here as well.

$112 seems like a lot for 80CFMs. I don't think those bathroom fans work very well with carbon filters. I had a carbon filter on one of those inline booster fans from home depot (160CFM) and it didn't work very well. Put a lot of strain on the fan and barely moved any air. Have you considered a can fan or vortex fan? They're designed to push air through filters. There's a ton of them on ebay.

Not so much, if you look you'll see when the static pressure rises the flow rises also. This means if I blow through a filter I will get more flow than if I pulled through one. A bump of 2 CFM. That would clear the volume entirely in 30 seconds. That is twice a minute. Now that is some airflow.

Those "booster" fans are crap, I used two of them to cool a 600W light. One to push at the front and one to pull at the back.

The Vortex In-Line fans are made to pull through a filter, I had a 6" Vortex.. they are just loud. Besides, I don't think I'll need that much flow for 40 cubic feet of space.

I'm just trying to get some experience from others that are using a similar sized space or know how to calculate these things.
