current setup:

11x11 room with two secret jardin 5x5 tents. the door is left open in the room for adequate air exchange and ducting to go to proper areas.

each tent is identical with two 6inch can fans (one for the 600w air cooled light and one for exhaust pulling air from the main part of the house)

should i send the hot air from the lights and tents down into the basement/crawl space or into the attic? i do not have AC but my house stays cool.

if i send the air to the attic i could pull from the basement but i feel like the air is "stale" and nasty underneath the house although it is cooler. can the air underneath a houses foundation stay fresh?

since i am sending the hot air exhaust from both tents underneath the house into the foundation is there anyway that heat will come back into my house?

i figured it would be better to send the heat below the house in the crawl space instead of in the attic (my thought is possible IR or thermal imaging seeing my girls), any thoughts on this?

other question:

In a effort to conserve energy i was wondering if it is necessary to have the exhaust on during the OFF hours. I understand the air will not be circulating as frequently but is it as important in off hours? also do the normal fans that blow accross my plants need to be on during the night as well?

anyone ever experiment and see the difference? much?

thanks!

whether you keep the fan on during the dark is dictated by the tolerance level to the smell.
I have mine vented right outside thru a vent that is ordinary looking. I thought about using the heat for warmth in the winter but the smell was too bad even with a scrubber

heat rises! you should exhaust into the attic and draw from the basement! The air down there prob. isn't stale, it prob. smells like under most houses. put a screen or pantyhose over the intake to block bugs. I dont run my exhaust fan during lights off but I do run the other fans

i was worried about filling the attic with hot air and how that might look from choppers, i live in a city and there are a lot of choppers...but it looks like my best option, good call with panty house.

my question about exhaust during lights off is the following: besides getting the heat out of there don't you want air circulation so the plants can constantly get fresh new air? this is why i am concerned of turning off the exhaust during off hours, dont the plants need it?

thanks everyone!

if i shoot the hot air into a vent out the roof, single story houses ranch style, any chance the smell can come down for neighbors to smell or will it keep on rising? i do have a filter.

true well ill try the attic i guess to exhaust into, and pull air from basement. im going to try and find a vent or duct to tap into so it flows out of the roof instead of filling it up....

If you're gonna pull air from the basement and it smells funky down there, do yourself a big favor and go down there with your Sherlock Holmes hat on and SEARCH for mold. I mean bust out the flashlight and peer into the corners, etc. I think they sell test kits at Home Depot. You sure don't want mold in there, huh? My basement is moldy and if I pulled air from there into the grow room my babies would be toast in no time. Just a thought. Good luck.

I was also not venting druing the night cycle but the plant was clawing which could be a sign of not getting enough air exchange so today I turned down the night time temp to see if it makes a difference. There are a ton of solutions for venting you attic space if you own your home. Check out this website as it has many solutions for stealth venting without looking like you DIY.

Venting of Attic spaces it common as it is a good way to conserve energy.
