If i want to add epsom salt to my res. The so called suggested amount of a tsp per galln brings up the ppm to incredible levels so i add water. But am i supposed to add that much water? It seems that my normal nutes will have to decrease in order to make room for the epsom.

why are you adding epsom salt? It could be used for a Magnesium Def but you shouldnt be adding it if you dont need it, could cause other lockout and other def.

A gallon is 3775mL which is ~210moles of water.. 1tsp epsom salt is roughly 0.05moles (guessing 6g), so on a number of particles basis rather than an EC basis (since the ions involved make excellent conductors) you're actually adding roughly 240ppm of each Mg2+, and SO4 2-, and alot of those particles will lock themselves up into fairly inert compounds, but that can vary with pH..
