hello everyone


for people who are nervious about getting busted for the POWER BILL


heres how it works broken down


1000w light=1 kilo watt per hour


so depending on when you live the prices change.

also when you look at the prices its in pennys.


like california 12.00 thats 12 cents


so what you do is

1000w eguals i kilowatt per hour

so 12 cents times how many hours your light is on times how many days in a month.

and that will give you a total on the light cost

Any good tips of saving on your electric bill with your lights im using 400mh for veg 18/6 and 400hps for flower and its only a small grow 4-6 plants at a time do i need that many watt,s

when i just move in my new place just over a year ago the electric was getting payed by someone 2 blocks away lol
i let it run for a while then i phoned 2 get it fixed incase it exploded it was a dodgy d.i.y. wire up job

think this might sound silly but what r cfls i hear yas all talking about them on here
but dident want 2 ask
can i buy these bulbs an just place them in the lights i have or do u need fittings also

you can buy em at home depot or walmart or mostly where ever.

you can put em int o a regular socket.

they are compact flourescents

also...
raise the temp of your fridge a bit
lower the temp of your water heater a bit
turn off your computer at night
turn off your monitor when not in use
adjust your thermostat a couple of degrees (up in summer, down in winter)

These simple things can make a significant difference in your powerbill

seeing no 1 really awnserd the ? a cfl is a compact fluorescent lightbulb its just a compacted version of a normal fluorescent that you can screw into a normal socket.

ive got 2x 100w energy saving flourescents do you think these would work for the veg stage just?
its costing me 2 much running both 400w bulbs just for 4 plants
i do 8 clones at a time tho just incase a friend gets the other 4 if every things ok

they should work fine as long as they the right spectrum. for veg you will want a bulb that puts out about 6500k on the kelvin scale as this will contain more blue spectrum and will be optimum for veg growth.

Say I lived in Florida where the cost is 8.55/kwh.

0.0855 x 18(hrs) x 30(days) = $46.17 per month

0.0855 x 12(hrs) x 30(days) = $30.78 per month

Now, this is just the cost I incur from the grow lights, not taking into
account my other power usage per month.

Is this correct? I suck at math.
 
that is correct, if you are running a 1000W lamp, or equivelant.
if you were running 500W worth of lamps then it would be half that etc.

REmember, 100W Flourescants are not 100W.
That is a rating to equate the light output to a regular house lightbulb (incandescant) so they are saying, this flourescant has the same luminescance as a 100W incandescant.
Which isn't a surprise because incandescants are also great heaters, because they waste alot of that energy as infrared instead of light.
Also this comparison between the two bulbs is for lumens? which is a scale for visible light, not the scale for light which drives photosynthesis (photo...?)

I think my "60W" CFLs are actually 12W or something similiar to those numbers.

400W MH and a few flouros will make a decent yield if you are doing hyge/aero and are also training your plant to maximise the available space

1000W=1KWH, so 55X18W= 990W
Is this the right thinking?

Nope,It would cost you more,because your running each individual light which in turn is using 120v per light,at least i think.:blsmoke:
