My opinion is, yes, even if you work somewhere for only 1 day you should still get paid what was agreed upon.
But, since it was only 2 days and by leaving, in a way, you fucked them, I would forget about it, If you get it you get it, if you don't then I wouldn't go chasing it, maybe one phone call asking for what's owed to you, but that's it.

i quit after half a day once because i suspected the contractor wasn't paying his employees.

there were 4 people there, all of whom had been there less than a week, and no one had signed a 1099 agreement.

i just figured the guy was burning a new batch of employees weekly.

I left at lunchtime once, so bout 4hrs.. lol.. I worked for my uncles construction company for years, learned everything from him. Anyway his work slowed down at one point and I needed to work so I grabbed a job outa the paper and by lunchtime I figured out he was about working harder not smarter.. started with a different crew next morning so no biggie..

And to the OP, I let that 4hrs slide..

@TheTrippyHippie so, you ever get time to get that money? It's been like a day and half. I imagine you're pretty busy being unemployed and all.

Hey John. You got 8 posts and just happened to stumble into Toke and Talk eh? My spidey sense is telling me that we've met before. I don't know. I've got a weird FDD vibe going on? If not, you and him can get an apartment together with some Katrina victims and share stories on how you're all washed up together.

I quit after a week of work, no show. The place was a hotel and I applied for event setter upper guy position and specifically said that I wasnt going to be the dish washer for my entire shift every shift. Well I get there and the manager sticks me on dish duty 3-4 days in a row so I said fuck em. Fortunately, I got paid. From then on i just never applied to restaurants or hotels or anything with a dishwasher. ... I feel like I spent my entire teenage years smoking weed as a dishwasher and getting ignored by the ladies. At one point I was bringing bokashi pails to work and composting the entire restaurants food scraps as I brought the plates to the dish pit. And i ended up making a big compost pile every few week. Grew some great dope

I was also a restaurant "dish dog" as a teenager.
Worked my ass off & went home soaked & stinky every day -- for $3.50/hr, or a little over $100/week.
I almost shit my pants when I heard about waitresses making $250+ on tips EVERY NIGHT.

    whitebb2727 Well-Known Member

    Lol. I did the same.

Worked at one place the waitresses would pay me in some tip money if I went above my duty of cleaning tables and actually set them back. Made good money. The manager caught wind and put a stop to it.

I did too, at a summer camp. Loved it. I was 16. Had this huge steam cleaner/sterilizer, billows of steam, clanging dishware. They had to get me 2 assistants to keep up

Me too, only I started busting tables at 10 years old for 7$ a night . I did that Fri and sat for two years . Bust tables, wash dishes, clean fish, tote ice, stock bar . The coolest part was when the juke box guy changed the 45's I could buy them for .30 $

Edit: the coolest part was working with my aunt Rose

    RIP Aunt Rose
