Michigan isnt the place you would think of when it comes to elite genetics, but i have to assume they are here after being a medical state for 4 years... Are people in MI just hesitant to share these top notch clones with other card holders or is there just that few of them around... Im not talkin about these bull shit craigslisters that pop a 5 pack of something and try to off some clones given people different phenos of the same strain... Unethical to say the least... Thoughts, opinions, suggestions are all welcome...

The elite genes were here way before medical. They are in every state. You just have to know the right people.

Larry Lemon tha elite genetics guy is planning his next garden w crayons.

i should of worded the tread a bit better i understand elite genetics is a company what i meant was top of the line gear... i have had some good cuts dont get me wrong just dont think they are competing with the top of the line cali or colorado genetics... like i said im sure they are here but held REAL close...

Michigan has some percentage of the best shit in the universe. imagine the top genetic collections in this state, because you'll never see them where they are all vegging together. we're lucky to be gifted just one occasionally. I share my shit, most all of it. Otherwise valued strains get lost, duh..

The idea of popping mult pks of seeds to seek thee best so-and-so cut is unrealistic within the current mmj program. I'd rather pop just a few beans, or possibly 5, to gain an idea of what a nu type is like. that way I get to try out more varieties, even if they aren't a perfect specimen. I've already acquired enough keepers that anything nu is a bonus, but I don't count on it.

If it was my intention to breed or dig deep into a genetic line for keepers that's a diff story. We all know how costly that plant space and time is though. not many have that luxury. ppl have been crackin ten pks in half for good reason.

If running a pack of seeds and getting a mother is unethical then my ass is going to hell for sure.
lol i think we have all ran beans and took us a mother but i see these people sellin clones all the time and taking a cut of each bean popped and when ya go to buy clones from them u get 3 different phenos... not cool in my book... i just want somethin to rival calis and oregons and colorados top shit...

take any plant that is only 2/3 of the way to holy grail and give it to an experienced grower for a few runs.
that'll be some damn good herb, even if it doesn't have that legendary name recognition (yet).

ive grew out some good plants over the last 3 or so years the best of which probly being my Kandy Kush which was lost (insert sad face) and a SAGE but nothing i would consider a keeper (besides my Kandy)... i guess i just dont know enough of the right folks in the medical community like the rest of you guys...

I guess the better question to have asked is where does a card holder such as myself find a top notch cut of somethin here in the mitten??

the only bugs that scare me w cuts are spider mites which are easily identified. a few week quarantine area is a good idea.

or, choose your breeder and seeds well.

i study and read up on these breeders like its my job and ive run alot of different ones but its like a roll of the dice it seems like... ive had an overall good experience with beans so im not shying away just looking for a little something more garenteed i guess... but bugs is probly the main reason i wont even go look at clubs... my experience with people there is they dont give a shit about anything but makin a quick buck

Depends on what you're looking for. I occasionally have some available at the g3c market in flint. Some dispensaries have them, but who knows really what they have. You gotta figure out who's honest and then grow it out.

Heres the deal dude: its dosen't matter where you are a for profit grower who has possession of good genetics is not letting them go cheap if they are letting them go at all. Good gnenetics are just too damned valuable to be handed out to everyone in clone form. A lot of work has gone into getting it into clone form. Also it kinda an ego thing for some everyone wnats to be able to say they have the best shit in their circle or town or whatever. I have some old Humbolt genetics that I keep going in seed form some IBL Purple bud and some other seeds I made crossing that with some more common strains and I'll be damned if anyone is getting clones of any of that. Nothing personal its just mine and if and when I let it go it will not be cheap. On the other hand I'm seeding out some Kens GDP and with a male Kens GDP I kept and those seeds will be free to anyone who might ask.

You have the wrong attitude about that. In the underground scene you're right. But people out in the open, they're selling clones they would grow them selves. You think they would waste months veging and cloning plants, taking up space with shit they don't even want. Whether it is what they say it is is a different story.

You have to go to Ohio or Indiana for the good stuff? I blame the mmma site - they set the bar so low no one knew what good genetics were until it was too late. The expectations are low - there is not the sophistication of CA and CO here as of yet. There are many awesome growers in Michigan. Most of them were repelled by the fiasco at mmma, etc. and want to stay real low until things shake out. I also suspect our government is far more corrupt than those other two States, and that makes it damn near impossible to get a good cop or a fair trial.
