Electricity question

Hey,

I have a ballast with a 600hps light, It has a euro connection so I use a really old travel adapter.
The weird thing is, is that it only works with this old adapter, anytime I try to use a more modern adapter with a timer, the electricity in the house trips, this has happened in two houses, so i'm sure it's nothing to do with the wiring of the house

You know, as a journeyman electrician, it sounds kinda sketchy to me also... Id just cut my losses and go pick up a new core and coil kit and lampholder, and a little romex, on the cheap at a local lighting supply house, and re do the set up, if for no other reason, to avoid a possible, (and with european pieces of shit, probable) fire, which is the LAST thing any of us weed warriors would want, aside from a raid... So, save yourself the trouble and give that thing to a new grower, wish him/her the best of luck, and go buy a new kit, seriously... just my take cuz... Also, always make SURE your timer is rated to carry the load of whatever light(s) you have running off of it... Ive seen too many grow fires caused by burnt up timers, that r only beefy enough for a corner lamp in a living room... U may look into building a good and proper electrical can, with lighting contactors which r intended to carry the heavier loads placed upon them by hid lights, and just use yer timer as the control circuit to tell the contacts when to open and when to close, thusly greatly reducing yer chances of a fire, and increasing yer chances of actually growing sum fire! ;-)"
