yes some states provide subsidies to people to install energy efficiency measures, on the basis that they wouldnt otherwise, as the pay-back period is so long.

you obviously didnt read my post. oh well.

exactly who is it looking pretty weird to? and who are you going to have to explain to?

are you talking about the electricity company grow detection team?
I'm so sorry xrayspecs... I actually made a mistake and went from page 1 to the last page... didn't see your post.

Anyhow, thanks for being condescending to someone just curious about what the op wrote.

I will be sure not to post on threads like this where there is obvious tension from page 1.

later...

yeah man its the shit, theoretically.
"free" power for the OP... with the standard electric company providing back up in the event your batteries didn't collect enough juice...
can you imagine having 6-8k, and not having to pay for the power. PROFIT TIME.

On of my cousins is doing this. He had the bank to not only solar panel all the 'sun receiving' parts of his roof, but also part of the 150 acres he lives on. It turns out that after he did this he started producing 2 kwph MORE than he was using, his batteries are almost always full and he sells what he makes back to the power company.

The real bitch is that he got all the panels because part of his house was burned in the forest fires two years ago. His insurance paid for 100% of the damages up front instead of paying the contractors .... since he's a General Contractor for a development company he and his friends did all the repairs and he had SERIOUS money left over. He seriously pimped his house with all sorts of goodies beyond the solar panels. Now he's getting a check for between $75 and $125 depending on how sunny the month is.

I can't believe this thread got so hostile so quick.

Bret Favra knows what he is talkin about, he just had a little snow on the brain with this one.

Anyways, I'm officialy killing this thread, lets all move on and let this sink down on the forum page....

No kidding I"ve been dreaming about having the money to do this since he told me everything he got from Tax credits, rebates from his county and state and finally getting something from the electric company too!

Don't be fooled though he ended up spending almost 60% of his insurance claim just on the panels and installation. It cost some where around 6K a panel, then the batteries and wiring and finally the installation fees. All told it was about $120K to get that much power ... his total insurance cut was almost $300K because the insurance deemed that his house was destroyed but he ended up rebuilding it for only $90K because of his gig. Luck bastard.
