What chapters would an educational series on growing for the MMMA need to contain?
Please give a chapter title followed by your explanation of what it would need either as a paragraph summary or a list. If you have ideas for media (youtube, paper based, flash based, or existing materials) include those after the content. Thanks!!

_____________
Hi. If you've watched oral arguments to the Supreme Court in Michigan (http://www.michbar.org/courts/virtualcourt.cfm) for cases regarding future medical marihuana precedent setting opinions, maybe you've thought that the High Court could use an educational session on growing what would be called 'medical marihuana' (perfect, specific effects, targeted bud growth as opposed to weight (not sure how to word that, but 'quality, top shelf').

It is not bad that they are not familiar with the process, but it does impact their ability to be swayed by prosecutors or defense attorneys. Additionally, if a defense attorney doesn't know some of the basics (like when a card expires in Michigan) then some arguments might never happen, such as "for such a mild drug, doesn't a valid card representing a visit within 2 years constitute bonafide? If that visit was to a doctor specializing in MMMA certs and the visit was valid, then couldn't self-dosage options and quantity amounts have been discussed at detail given the doctors area of specialization?"

The court has much larger concerns to society to weigh in on - and I think they know this. However, they will be hearing cases that are driven by a desire to legislate the future of the MMMA through criminal prosecution. Prosecutors are saying that amounts possessed are not amounts within reasonable medicinal usage expectations. As a caregiver, I see myself as always needing 2.5 at minimum in case I get a phone call from that patient, or if something bad happens in the garden. Some caregivers could reasonably need more than that to supply the uninterrupted access they are tasked with providing. For instance, a one gram joint every 2 hours could equal....plan for the +/- and you can see how some patients will require a caregiver in spirit only and will always require a section 8 when quantities inevitably exceed 2.5

In short, they need to be informed, but not by some guy in a dingy basement. The entire series would have to follow a perpetual grow with maximum numbers of plants to produce minimum quantities and also scenarios for patients with maximum usage needs. Optimally, the series would include actual footage of pest infestations and other 'worst case' happenings (time lapse of extended power outage?)

Thanks, anything used will get some sort of acknowledgement if anything ends up being assembled. Ideally, I'd see some sort of brief given to an attorney to use in an upcoming argument when the opportunity arises, but realistically it will just make another fun thing to talk about. Any legal input is of course appreciated as the series could be structured to lean toward specific defense strategies.

It goes without saying that everything needs to be presented intelligently and only after a thorough analysis of the audience has been conducted should the actual generation of content begin.

Cloning
-nutrient options (costs the court needs to understand)
-why cloning happens, how it works (this is interesting and keeps the audience engaged, picture a flash animation representing the evolutionary advantage)
-sizes, cutting, care
-transplanting (costs, difference in plant needs, setup the transition to vegging (use 'ing' for everything until 'dried', 'finished', or any other 'ed' opportunity)

For the basics, probably the simplest. A scenario for section 4 compliance well below the quantities. There are so many different scenarios that probably the simplest would be the best starting point.

This should be good. All section 4 compliant? No section 8 ?

Get a noob to showcase.
There once was a man named Ron.
Ron did not like his job.
Ron did like to be at the focus of many activities.
Ron was happiest when others shared his views.
Ron's views were negative because he was pretty unhappy.
Ron could predict failure and then contribute minimally, mostly just to criticize.
Working with Ron was difficult because the time dragged on.
Projects with Ron took longer, particularly the 'undesirable' projects.
Ron quit because he didn't want to be there anyway, but that company continued and that position was filled.

Part of teaching someone about something is finding the common starting ground.

What are some decent analogies that someone in the legal world could start with and transition into growing technique? To show what I am looking for: one of the justices mentioned that 'not having to talk to the neurologist is a good thing, we are happy when that happens.' Knowing this, let's look to something that ultimately involves a caregiver with patients seeking extracts or medicines aimed at decreasing contact with a neurologist. These medicines will require production of greater numbers and justification of quantities that might not be understood by someone unfamiliar with marihuana.

Ok then I'll skip Ron and expect u to understand that this is not new. And I ment what I said.
Get a new grower. Get a new patient. Have them document how to be a compliant grower and supply a legitimate patient.
Get a mi state grad agricultural master to be the caregiver ..
Here's 12 seeds and a cancer patient!!!! Go

The plant is the ultimate teacher. I cracked my first bean 28 years ago and a few years later it all made sense but I was only a kid being in my early teens. If I could make it happen then anyone can now

I have seen new caregivers and patients in the same starting position. Nobody can truly teach one how to grow in all aspects being that this is a bond between plant and human. Setting all conventional methods aside..New comers have to earn their stars and stripes one way or another. It is the survival of the fittest when it comes to boot camp but anyone with drive will graduate.

Soil enriched with microbes and plenty of organic matter and compost will be the best tried and true starting point. People fail here though when they buy sterilized soil blends and expect nature to work for them.. Once a grower has learned to keep the dirt and plant happy they can then work on keeping patients happy.. Pretty simple when all said in truthfulness. The other conventional methods should follow as secondary in my humble opinion..Learn nature first then move into the the conventional world of growing if you like..It is different no matter once you loose natures elements of control and this is where it can be a real challenge for most.

Now growing while keeping a steady supply may be a tricky thing for some, the most dedicated will learn and develop their own strategy while utilizing the stock they work.. Again pretty simple and no schooling is needed although it helps to hear how others get around some of the variables.

Repeat that last word spoken now please, variables, yes lets say that one more time, variables. It is the variables that not one person can fully speak for and about, let alone teach. The growers duty is like the plants, overcome all variables and grow.. Simple and straight forward again.......

Last but not least, this state has had years for the people to learn and share the basics on growing. The industry and all of the bells and whistles is often to blame for steering new comers into the wrong position but sadly the majority of genetic material in this state is not medical grade quality. 90% of it at least is nothing more then commercial marijuana with a limited amount of cannibinoid diversity and value..The majority of genetics available are watered down becoming the rope or seed producing type known as Hemp

Michigan needs to bridge its breeders and medical growers like the mighty Mack verses being caught up in the smoke and mirrors of the weed world. Once this happens this state will be free from this corrupt game of the black market infringing and feeding on the medical act.

I have nothing against the recreationalist either but the greed growers can be blamed for the inferior dirty medicine that can be found as well as the majority of the lower commercial grade on the streets and in the clubs and dispensaries.. Once legal we will be free form all of this confusion and mass panning for gold ..

So I will not vote due to my thoughts above.. I think I am jaded though as I have seen this from all angles and I understand the holistic approach but I see little being utilized due to the confusion and chaos most have bought into of the world of weed in general..

Medical Marijuana is a whole different herb then what even most recreational types truly know..Medical Marijuana is the top 1% of this plants offerings and it is a sacred thing you will find once you acquire real medical marijuana verses some low grade weed grown/sold for greed.........

90% of those selling seed for medical use should be ashamed of themselves. They don't even know themselves let alone the polyhybrid mashup of genetics they sling..

That is my MMMA free introductory grow class I hope you enjoyed---------Class dismissed and now we partake in some medicine...:)

All classes are free but please do bring flowers for the teacher ;)

Respect and Peace

thanks for taking your time to share so many of your opinions on growing. The topic is regarding creating something like a class to educate the supreme court on how to grow, so most of your statements don't really apply. On this site, we all have at least a minimal knowledge of growing and most of us have a lot of experience with using it, but the justices probably have no clue what goes into growing it and are probably not familiar with using it medicinally either.

Michigan's Supreme Court is pretty receptive to our program, but they don't understand marijuana at all. A prosecutor can say something like 'with 12 plants you can produce a gazillion pounds' and the judge will be like "whoa, that's way too much", but if they knew that 12 plants was 4 clones, 4 veg, 4 flower - 1 plant harvested every 2 weeks.....well, then 12 plants isn't really producing a gazillion pounds, nor could they.

it will be the judges pimp slapping the prosecutors just as soon as the judges get a feel for the MMMA.

Bingo - Your state Govt has no right to intervene in the first place.. I am not bound by the MMMA thanks to the new federal law. Not that I ever really was, being that I grow in tribal boundaries here in Mi.

When all said and done working with the state will lead to corporations and heavy ruling.

It is a plant and no man should be able to tell another what he can or cant grow .. I ll be watching this smoke and mirror show from the sidelines and I wish you warriors well but be careful of those snakes with forked tongues. They are much smarter then most realize and they are sly little weasels when all said and done..

I ll say my prayers while I smoke my pipe in hopes of resolution but I still feel it is playing with fire when all said and done.
