Ebb & Gro bucket system - bucket spacing

I'm in the process of setting up the Ebb & Gro bucket system. My room is 9x9' and I've got 4x 600w lights. The strains are Sour D, Flo, and OG K(r)ush. (for more info see journal here: First Grow - 3000w - Ebb & Gro - H&G - Sealed )

I'm cutting the 3/4" tubing and trying to figure out how much space to leave in between the buckets??? The buckets are 2 gallons and the diameter of each bucket is 9.5 (25cm)".

I'm planning on vegging for 4 weeks and flowering for 8 weeks. I'm in week 3 of veg right now and the sizes range from 12" (30cm) - 18" (46cm). I figure they will probably be 18 - 24" (60cm) tall before I start flowering and maybe 48 (122cm) - 60" (153 cm) tall when I harvest. (it's my first grow so really don't know.)

Should I leave 6" (15cm), 12" (30cm), or 18" (45cm) between the buckets? 12" would give each plant about a 22" (56cm) diameter space to grow in.

Just spread them out even. If you got this far you should be able to figure it out. Veg for 4 weeks is not that long. Give it more veg time and double or triple the harvest. If ya got the space fill it up.

Give them a lot of extra slack, if you have the hoses cut exactly to size, they kink constantly. The more extra hose you use between buckets, the less they kink.

I've got 28 possible plants but if I put them all in then it might get crowded. I've read that if you crowd plants it will cause them to stretch and I definitely don't want that to happen. If i put all of them in each would have less than an 18" (45 cm) diameter of space.

How long would you recommend vegging for?

I use 2 1000 watters. The areas are 4x4 9 plants each side.
Thx Dirtyboy. That's useful info. The pics are a little hard to see cuz they are small but I get the idea.

How tall do your plants get? How long do they flower for? What strain are you growin?

im using an ebb and gro system too...

the area that i am using now, which will be just a veg area after i get my flower room setup after this grow, is 5x9....

i only have 12 plants... and they've taken up almost the ENTIRE space... i have to squeeze through the room.. and most of them got only 4 weeks of veg.. its 1 week into flowering... and i dont expect to be able to walk around at all in another week.. looks like im crawling if i need to get around...

i have about a foot of space in between them on either side.. give or take.. its not exact... but based on what i see now i think that 20 would fill in a 9x9 area almost completely (possibly 16 if you super crop them and bush them out)... either number you go with just space them out evenly.. cut a little extra slack so you can move them a little if you need to... but even is key...

here's a pic of my setup as is.. like i said it will be my veg room when this grow is over and i can purchase the equipment i need for my flower room... but 90% of these girls had 4 weeks of less of veg time...

i know the girl in the middle front row looks like shit.. she's dieing on me and i dont have any idea why...

How tall/wide were they when you started flower?

Thx for the info. That really helps. I subscribed to your journal and will be watching to see how it turns out. I'm also thinking of putting a couple more than would actually fit by the end of flower so that I could pull the weakest ones or any that died or had some serious issues along the way.

I do just fine with the half inch tubing (16 plants,4 rows of 4), maybe with more plants or bucket/line arrangement you might need to upgrade lines to hasten the fill/drain cycle. I have my rez outside the grow space with feeder bucket on the inside and I keep my lines straightened out. If you have a spot you keep getting kinks, use an elbow :dunce:. I use them on my rez and feeder bucket to eliminate the kinks.
