Ebb & Flow Tray / RDWC

So I have a 2x3 tray with Ebb & Flow fitting kit and a 396gph pump and want to possibly experiment with a Hybrid type system.

I am experienced with running Dwc in buckets and coolers but recently purchased the above items and I am looking for a way to run more of a sog style DWC.

Here is what I have been working on:

Covering the 2x3 tray 8" deep with the 1" thick foam insulation and cutting out holes for net 6" net pots. Placing the net pots filled with hydroton and a plant into the pre cut holes so their suspended in the open tray just like a normal bubbler but in a tray. Then set my overflow fill tube to desired level (1" below the net pots) and continuously run the pump from the rez to tray so I have a somewhat of RDWC system.
Would this work properly with the overflow tube maintaining water level 24/7? Also would air stones be required?

Or running it ebb & flow style by just flooding the table to desired level to saturate suspended net pots 4-6 times a day for 15 mins. Would this eliminate the need for air stones and be just as effective as the above method?

When I have more clones available I may run 2" net pots and fill the entire tray up with as many as I can fit and flowering as soon as their rooted ie sog. Does anyone recomend or have experience with running any of these type of systems
