Starting a new grow I just finished setting up a new 4' by 8' ebb and flow tray hydroponic system for my cannabis clones and would like to post my experiences from start to finish. Hopefully I will get some good advice here on the way.

I started them off on Advanced Nutrients Iguana Juice Organic and Ancient Earth Organic for the first time using this product line. Talked with customer support from Advanced Nutrients and received advice and explanation around using organic food for hydroponics. He told me that I don't need to worry ph unless it goes above 8 and that the plants can absorb ph from 4.5 to 8. Also I only need to top off reservoir rather then having to drain it weekly.

An important tip I received was to keep the water temp down to between 65 degrees and 70 degrees Fahrenheit to slow fungus growth to a manageable degree. After 7 days I will be ready to post a picture of my grow table again populated with Double Bubble and Pot of Gold clones.

The picture below is Double Bubble from my 2nd last grow. This time around instead of filling the whole table with grow rocks (which didn't prevent algae and was a nightmare to clean up) I used weed block on the bottom and put 6 inch basket pots with 4 inch cubes into smaller plastic trays with holes drilled in the bottom for water flow. I also have each smaller tray filled with grow rocks. I covered the table and trays with panda plastic before inserting clones into 4" cubes. I cut an x where each 4" inch cube was in order to insert the clones which are rooted in smaller 1" cubes. Hopefully that will make next clean and reset easier and it used 1/2 the amount of grow rocks to clean.

It took a few days for the girls to get accustomed to there new indoor growing environment but they seem to be pretty happy at this point. I topped off water and food about 3 days ago adding Advanced Nutrients Rhino Skin, Ancient Earth and more Iguana Juice Grow all of them organic formula. EC is 1.0 PH about 7. I am not going to mess with PH too much unless it goes over 7.2. Also figured out an improvement in ventilation and light cooling that has lowered room temperature within a comfortable range.

I added an extra heavy duty aerator on opposite side of reservoir where there is an existing high test aerator each set to high with a total of 8 aeration points spread through tank. Also as an added hack I allow the tank to drain through the air back into reservoir after each flood. Looks good smells fine. Rather then having to switch from MH 1000 w to HPS 1000 w bulbs I simply started vegging using HPS because they will be switched over to 12 and 12 soon enough. I just need to prune clones and control their growth pattern for flowering cycle when the time comes.

I may have took a bit longer then normal because they just came out of pre flowering outside.

Day 7 below
