EBAY TDS meters

Theres alot of TDS/EC meters on ebay selling for around 20 bux. Outside of the fact that it has to read up to 2000ppm has anyone had any accuracy issues with these meters.

The cheapest retail meters are around 70 bux so I am suspicious of a precision instrument selling for only 20. Any experiences?

ive got a few of the cheapos from e-bay. and ive got a 150.00 hanna combo meter. the cheapos work every bit as good as the hanna other than having to recalibrate(sp) them about twice as often. but for the money they really cant be beat. IMHO

I agree with th3bigbad. I currently have the cheapos. Just calibrate them once a week and your all good. I did notice that when I take a ph reading directly under the flourescents in my dwc the PH is way way way off. I haven't figured out if it's the light or what gives it the crazy reading. When I take the reading where it's primarily dark the ph shows that it's ok. I've wasted many a ph up and down because of this.

I am currently running COCO with a drain to waste system so I will be measuring the runoff PPM. Will make sure to keep it out of fluro light when I do the measuring.
