Easiest Way in Germinating Seeds

I recently tried a new method (to me) of germinating my seeds.. I used some of the Hermie seed I have from my grow.. I tossed them into a coffee cup filled half way with cold water..
placed it into the fridge for an hour or so to simulate winter.. I always do this.. sometimes 24 hours.. depends how busy I am..

Next you take it out and leave it... mine is up on a shelf.. some light hits it but not much gets in.. (the mug is solid green) the water warms and they slowly start to pop their little white tongues out.. I just grab them with tweezers as they pop and put them in whatever I'm growing in..

I'm pretty happy with this method.. the paper towel method can dry out if you don't keep watch.. and depending what you put it on top of for the heat source..

I usually use peat pellets in a tray on top of a heating pad with great success.. also the same method for cloning..

If your paper towl drys out its because your not putting it inside a ziplock to simulate a humidity dome!

Start by soaking them in tap water as you said for about 24 hours, or until they sink. Usually I would shaking it up a lil bit or swish the water around in your cup and they will sink after a hour if they have already soaked for about 12 hours.
Then place them in a damp papertowel and place that inside of a ziplock.
Then place in a warm dark place and you will have gaurenteed germination on every seed you have ever had!

I will gaurentee this even though I cant spell guarentee! maybe its right just doesnt look right :wall:
Let me know if you ever have any problem germinating a viable seed again!:eyesmoke:

Interesting take on putting the water in the fridge overnight. I understand the theory behind it and, i dont see why not. If it works for you, go for it. I personally keep the water in a warm place as well as put the paper towel in a ziplock bag in a dark warm place.

There are 100s of ways to germinate a seed. All of which are wrong except for my way.

I wasn't saying I have trouble my friend... I have great success with a couple methods.. I was just sharing my newly tried method.. I have never put the paper towel in the ziplock.. good tip.. as for swishing.. i just give them a tap.. they usually sink..

Yeah.. although I didn't make sure this cup was warm.. I use a heat source normally.. that might speed them up in the cup.. but meh.. I wanted to see how good this would work..

also when I normally do it they go from the cup out of the fridge, into a peat pucks and onto a heat source.. the heat source is key... also when cloning.. I get roots in 6-7 days.. peat pucks and a heating pad under the tray on high.. (it's wrapped in plastic ofcourse)
works wonders..

Plus... from the cup to the peat pucks is less work then.. cup to the paper towel, to the peat pucks..

mine sunk instantly when i placed them in luke warm water so now what?

paper towel in a plastic bag is the way to go. and i think warmer is better than cold germination. one time i forgot a few seeds germinating and they stretched out to about 3-4 inches like i already planted them. and this winter i tried to germinate some and it was too cold in my room to really get them to come out.

Just place the seeds directly into the soil. Water , DO NOT PACK SOIL DOWN ON TOP OF SEED, just place it over it. After this cover the top of the pot with saran wrap with a rubber band around the pot holding the saran wrap tight and on to the pot. This skips germinating entirely. Here's a pic of mine.:leaf:
