Hi,

i may have to harvest my plants a little early. they are probably about a week, maybe week and a half away from ready, but i dont have a choice.

what will i lose from doing this?

the plants entirely? i.e. bin them and start over

a lesser quality smoke?

a lesser strentgh smoke?

im so gutted, i have thought of every possible way round it but i need to cut them in the next 24hrs!!

There will be different results with different strains, particularly between more indica and more sativa plants. With the average sativa, harvesting early creates more of a speedy, uncomfortable high. The typical indica harvested early will have a better high than an early sativa. Indicas usually range from more trippy harvested a little early to couchlock when harvested late. As Jer mentioned, checking the trichomes is a good way to determine ripeness. A more accurate test of what high the plant will provide is to quick-dry a small bud in the microwave. Of course, this way you have to trim the plant and when checking the trichs you don't.

besides the end result of the actual smoke, from my own experience, the last few weeks, the weeks youll be losing are when the buds ripen and swell the most, so your yield rapidly decreases upon early harvest. just my 2 cents. lol.

It'll be a pretty peppy up high , I can't tell without a 30X scope if the trich is more clear rather than cloudy ..
There are some brown hairs, I wouldn't call it a premature harvest, just early.
