DWC with airstone - Pump + air-stone always on, or should i use a timer?

Hi rollitup! First of all, great forum! Nice with a international growing community.

When you are using a DWC hydroponics system, what do you guys recommend?
Having the pump blow air out through the air-stone 24/7, or should it run in a cycle?
And if so, what's the best cycle?

the more air getting to theroots the better, when i did DWC i used multiple airstones and ran it 24 7

beech has a goodidea, i used the ones from walmat that are blue and long, i used about 3 or 4 per tank i dont remembebut its beenawhile, just think of it this way, u can never have enuff air, honestly if ur gonna do dwc u might as well do aero, the set up isnt that much harder and its alot easier to maintain, just 2 cents from someone who has done it both ways

yes always on and buy yourself some h202 aka hydrogen peroxide off amazon, not the store bought 3% but 8% to 30% just follow the instructions it will keep you res clean and when its depleted it turns into oxygen.

air pumps and air stones are oldschool use powerheads, used in aquariums much more efficient at ciculating water. an airstone does not create much circulation.surface movement creats dissolved oxygen in water condenses water molecule which makes it work better check out thewaterbrewery.com

dwc has nothing to do with circulation.that will just add heat. air stone is for adding DO.

I disagree superstoner, dwc is all about circulation so you want as much oxygen as you can get and like I said using h202 is always good for adding oxygen and keeping bacteria out. I agree I use aquarium pumps but I am running a RDWC so I don't use air stones but you can't get enough oxygen if you are using hydro.
