That will be just ok, you want 1 watt per gallon water (minimum). After replacing several diaphragm pumps...... a piston pump is best.

Lots of ability with a manifold to run multiple units. I have found virtually everything sold by Hydrofarm to be on the edge of OK but priced high. For the quality. Everything they sell can be duplicated for performance and outdone while spending less. Seedling heat mats? 1 size only - $50.00. Reptile mats at Pet Smart? In sizes from small to large starting at $15. C'mon, man.

BTW you don't need long air stones. I know. Live and learn. I bought a handful of simple small air stones for $.99 each at the pet store. Replace the things instead of trying to clean them. You don't even need air stones! Put the hose tip in the water and weight it to keep it on the bottom. Same air. My WWA and Vertigo autos in DWC are proof of anything I claim.

hey im using a 30-60 gal air pump from walmart for a 30 gal tub i am using to long air stones i really just want to know if i have enough air growing thro it or do i need a bigger pump the bubbles pop and shoot out the holes i cute but idk if its enough bubble
like some roots are shooting out the rockwool cubes they been in there 4 days
It looks to me like you need more action from the bubbles
I suggest 1 lpm (liter per minute) per gallon minimum for dwc.

When talking about air supply it's best to refer to gph(gallons per hour) or lpm(liters pre minute) because they are given amounts, when talking watt per gallon all pumps produce with different efficencies, my pump produces 2.5 lpm per watt, the pump your looking at upgrade to produces @ less than 1 lpm per watt.

The style of dwc your doing requires the air pump to be on 24/7, so the more energy efficient the pump is the more money your going to save. Also when the pump runs cool it pumps cool air into your buckets, the large cheep commercial style air pumps produce a lot of heat, are very loud and require a fan to keep them cool adding more watts to the over all grow.

Yes please post a link to your pump or one like it. In my experience with equipment in life anything that produces more of anything per watt usually wears out quickly. You pay for something on one end or the other. I tend to buy heavy duty durable equipment that stands up to heavy use and just pay the juice. Cheap price sometimes. But there are gems hidden in the muck.

To each there own and reason , I choose these to do the job and use multiples .. I feel they are superior and a bonus they can be fixed in time .. My reasoning for using multiples is that .. A- I dont have to stress when one goes down , its not being relied on solely . B-I can use the others pumps running for the one down as I dont use them normally but for two stones .

All to often I see growers relying on one cheap Chinese pumps like those sold by Hydrofarm under there name .. Those are returns to the grow stores everyday .. I dont like hit and miss piss poor products ..

This high output pump has four adjustable ¼” outputs that can be teed off to power up to twelve air driven hydroponics growing systems such as the WaterFarm. In addition, growers who use our Dual Diaphragm air pump can use it to reliably oxygenate their reservoir with air stones.

I run the General Hydroponics duel diaphragm air pumps, they're rated to run on 8w and produce 20lpm
I would suggest 1 pump per tote with multiple airstones per tote.

The cheapest place I could find the Gh pumps was:

A piston pump produces air on the up stroke a duel produces air on the up and down stroke. This is where you get the increased efficiency.

The 1 watt per gallon rule is a generalized rule of thumb. Generally when you have root disease you can rule out low DO levels as the problem if you have at least 1 watt per gallon. That does not however mean your plant is getting optimal DO.

well now i just hooked up 2 60 gph pumps i got off craigslist looks great in the water now lol

Personally I would check out the sunleaves durapumps, they are fairly reasonable on price, and have an inlet that you can attach to a cool air feed and inject cool air into your reservoirs. However they can be a bit loud if you don't anchor them to something heavy, which I think concrete stepping stones are perfect to anchor them to with concrete screws. They are comparable to the hydrofarm pump shown above and come in various sizes, which I found the 18 watt to work great for four large stones.

Also the GH pump shown above is pretty nice for the amount of air it puts out (well worth the price) and they are pretty quiet. For me those are my two choices, good luck with yours!

I personally use a hydor ario 2. Reasonable price and submersible for less noise!

Gonna start my "think different, 600W LED, DWC grow" soon! :)
