DWC salt build up

I’ve been running a few plants in DWC for the past few months. My hope is to keep my mom’s in them and take cut from there. The salt seems to be building up faster and the plants get a lock out faster now.

My question is do I need to drain the ferts then let the plants roots sit in just plain water for a few hours or am I way off here/like a flush?

I change the rez/bucket every week like clockwork and then scrub them out. Does that sound right? Why am I getting salt buildup so fast? Is there anything I can do to stop this.

Or a better question would be how do you clean your DWC.

Peace Frosty420.

what kind of water are you using? you may have really hard water, or I hope not, but maybe softened water?

i was havin nute bulid up, just try adding just ph adjusted water, or flush for a day i was told. you have to top your rez every day or so, cuz your plants are drinking causing low ph and high nute concentration, which leads to nute lock out. your plant looks goods

sm-90 should work..its sulfated canola oil and when added at 3ml per gallon of water with your nutrient changes it will coat all your res, drip lines, pumps and everything with a protective oily film that keeps stuff from sticking to anything, my res was covered in salt and calcium build up and it kept clogging my drip lines and pump, since i started using sm-90 i havnt noticed any build up at all, and everything in my res looks new again..

Thanks for the sm-90 tip, it sounds like a good answer to the buildup.
Actually it’s all good info. I might have to go over a few things tonight and answer the other questions.

Yeah that plant is in good shape but I have another that has slowed down some and has a burn on it, haha kinda funny how I posted the good looking plant.

dont know bout that, the sm-90 is made for plants by nutrilife and has a few other things in it, and its sulfinated whatever that is but it smells kinda citrusy,

I wonder how much and what your using to get this build up. I ran a mother plant in a 6 gal dwc for 11 week veg and 9-1/2 week flower and i only changed the water every 2 weeks tops, sometimes 3 weeks. Never had salt problems but the ph game got hard at the end because she drank 2- 2-1/2 gallons a day. Here she is all jacked up on ionic and some advanced stuff.

I'll second the use of drip clean and a healthy dose of Hygrozyme. Start using distilled or RO water in that DWC system. You need to dissolve the build up and flush the roots.
