That's all you need really, they are the most diverse products and contain everything else in all the other products except for 1 bacteria in hydroguard/aquashield. For 2 gal. just add 1 tsp Great White, we use the small scoop end of the measuring tool that comes with ZHO, it does not = a plastic spoon tsp its much less. For ancient forest you really only need little less then 1.5 handfuls. and use about 1 tablespoon molasses. alot of air stones and ur good.

I fully intend on using this recipe on my next grow as a preventative. I run 15 gallons.

Seeing as how the brew is only good for 10 days and 1 cup will treat 10 gallons for a week, is anybody making micro batches that are only 2 cups or so? Will just a pinch of everything listed be good? I guess what I worry most about is adding too much molasses that could end up in my res, or is that even an issue in the preventative realm?

Sorry if this was already covered, but I did try to search the thread and didn't find it.

Thanks!

you want to put just enough molasses or maple syrup to feed the bacteria for the first 36 hours of the 48 taht it is bubbling.. that is why i only put in one and a half teaspoons.. if there is any left over.. that will feed bad bacteria as well once it is in the res.. that is why i tell people to add 1 and a half teaspoons.. nto a whole tablespoon..

yes.. i use tons of tea bro.. lol.. the amount of enzymes that are created by active bacteria in the res are amazing.. it's like getting free "high end" supplement enzymes... =) and yes i only use 1-2 tsp of maple syrup.. actually i have never used 2 teaspoons.. only 1 and a half or less.. minimum 1 teaspoon as well.. so 1 - 1 1/2.. it makes them hungry earlier.. and also.. i dont want any maple syrup left over to be in the res.. bc it will feed bad bacteria as well.. feel meh? =)

instead of aquashield.. i would get a cheaper product called "hydrobact" by simple path.. it is cheaper.. and actually i would say more effective.. bc i used ONLY hydrobact until all of the stuff i ordered came in the mail.. and my net pots started popping out new shoots in a few days.. =) hydrobact =) it's good! idk why.. but it is.. shit! haha it's so cheap as well.. and if you are ordering something online.. fuck it and order some mycogrow from Fungi.com.. that shit is so fucking key in my tea.. i love it! like i said in my other post.. at least mycogrow/ great white and ancient forest..pick one or the other of the Myco or GW.. i recommend Myco .. but they both work well...

and i would just make the 2 gallons.. bc honestly.. you aren't using very much product for each run.. all of the shit you have will last you well past a year.. or more .. lol..

actually i dont change my res.. lol.. i add back so much.. that it changes itself.. i just keep the ppm at a steady number.. and keep the water line at a steady level... BUT if i were you.. i would change your res every two weeks... honestly.. when you have good roots (later in the process).. you won't need to change it at all.. just addback.. and it will all be drank eventually.. i add tea every 2 days >> 2 cups of it.. and EVERY 4 days >> i pour 1 cup over EACH netpot.. and if you did that too it would be fine....

seriously.. i addback 2 gallons to my res a day.. i only have 4 plants.. so that means a half gallon a day is being drank each day by EACH of these plants.. lol! actually.. the last time i changed my water.. which really wasn't a change.. was when some healthy roots started growing out of the netpot.. i dont care if other parts of my grow get dirty.. i dont care if there is slime on a pipe somewhere.. i just clean it off.. as long as the roots are fine.. im cool.. i just put more tea in if i think that something is going wrong.. lol..

OK I have a question that I hope someone will answer for me. I have never used a sterilizing agent or EWC in my DWC grow because I change out the water weekly and I am diligent about cleaning out the buckets during the water change. So far I have never had an issue and I have read not to use EWC if you don't have a problem. Well, I changed to RDWC a month ago and I am no longer able to clean out the buckets when doing the weekly water change. I have not had a problem.

Should I continue as I am or should I run EWC as a precaution or wait for a problem to arise? I run GH 3 part, Koolbloom, calmag and silica in my system.

keep on doing what you are doing... BUT if it starts it will be a problem.. and you should come back for help.. i would stock up on what you need to make the tea ahead of time JUST in case something happens.. then you don't have to wait for it to ship out to you.. you need Mycogrow sold at fungi.com, you need ancient forest(it has ewc in it but is much better than ewc), and you need zho powder, you can also buy hydrobact by simple path or aquashield to supplement.. i reccomend hydrobact so tat leaves you with this list>>

Mycogrow
ancient forest
zho powder
hydrobact

and when you need the recipe i have a recipe within the last 2 or 3 pages somewhere.. so just go backwards till u find it.. GOOD LUCK

Thanks, I ordered the Mycogrow last night and today I got some ZHO powder and Ancient Forest. Now I will sit back and keep on eye out for any problems. I hope I don't have any but if I do at least I am prepared.

That zho is some nasty stuff makes for a dirty tea

i removed it from my brewing and things are alot cleaner

i use zho.. look at my plants... MONSTERS... it's fine.. you need fungi since fungi are the ones taht actually protect the roots.. what he means is that if you use TOO much zho it will make the fungi overpopulate... something i will explain to you when you need to know

zho is bascially fungi so that means that it is necessary to put in either at the beginning or the end of the tea.. there are differing opinions on that.. but either way.. much needed

Hey guys,

So I'm familiar with this recipe/thread from like a year or more ago.
Anyway, just wondering:

1) Is there any replacement for poop? i.e.: Is there anything else other than EWC that'll fill it's place? And is Ancient Forest much better (is it cleaner) than regular EWC. I have regular, rubicon brand I think, EWC.
The pantyhose I put it in just excretes this dark brown sludge balls and it's pretty gross. Even when I strain the tea after, there's kinda lil bits and it stays around (like it the growstones) especially if you put it in the root crown. Would that liquid worm castings be a poor substitute?

2) Molasses - same as above; it's effin messy. Can a hydroponic designed alternative 'sugar' be used? Any ideas for a cleaner way?

!3) The one thing I've heard and read consistently over the past couple years (including from heisenberg) is "don't add ANY organics" to your hydroponics... Am I missing something here? lol
- My EWC is 100% organic.
- My Molasses is 100% organic, unsulphered.
I'm a little confused here.

I can either use H202 like I've done before with pretty good results. But there are SOOOO many products that go out the window when you use H202; you can't even use a root supplement; mine says it right on the bottle.

Thanks for any help guys.

Res temp: 65-69 (DWC tote)

Note: If I remember right these girls were fine as young seedlings and I wanted to add something to help with nutrient uptake and that they would just love, there was no root issue. Now, I cant get rid of the...'light brown' looking light discoloration/sediment-y bits on the roots. Which could be a combo of the tea, h202 (from before the tea and now - trying to get rid of it), and the rapid rooter deterioration (I hate these things).

Peace.

Ive brewed tea with ECW maybe 3-4 times each time it came out smellin like old gym socks, switched to Ancient Forest and havent had a bad odor yet. A lot of people use EWC and there are lots of brands but I wouldnt use anything other then Ancient.

I use Molasses in the brew and the smell is gone by the time i filter the tea.. The reservoir is super clean after 10 days of use with tea. ( i been changing the water ev 10 days)

H202 damages roots and hinders growth thats a fact. Sure you can use it but it really does nothing beneficial other then clean up a dirty res. The tea is a super potent/diverse population of bennies and nothing harmful will stand a chance vs it.. its pretty much the only thing "organic" you want near ur reservoir.

Reservoir temps dont have much to do with pythium or slime, they exist at what ever the roots can handle and its been documented by University tests that low temps only slow the pythium outbreak by a few days, either way it doesnt prevent or treat it. The only real benefit to lower temps are more dissolved oxygen, but then again roots are more comfortable in warmer water.

IMO without this great tea I wouldn't even consider growing in a hydroponic environment.

@GiftedOne I noticed you asked a question on making smaller batches. I too am going to use this as a preventative for my next grow. What did you end up doing? Do you make it in smaller batches or are you keeping it in the fridge? I am hesitant to keep it in the fridge because aren't they alive? How do they survive for up to 10 days in the fridge? My system holds about 20 gallons so I wouldn't need to make that much. 2 gallons would probably be too much and I would end up throwing quite a bit away.
