DWC ppm

Hi guys

I want to ask if someone could tell me how to maintain ppm in dwc? So i don't have to dump water every week. I just want to measure it every day and add as much water as plants used and also as much nutes they used.

You want the lucas formula! 8ml flora micro 16ml flora bloom per gal, same formula threw entire grow, Top off as needed

top off with fresh water only for the majority of the grow.

Dump and start new each week. you can never put back which nutrients they used because unless your sending your water to a lab to be tested each day (which ummm, I doubt you are) you can never tell WHICH nutrient they have absorbed. To your PPM meter..its all just salts.

Furthermore, if you keep dumping in nutrients that they are not using, you can run into lock out problems between those nutrients that are antagonistic to each other at higher levels. short simple answer... fresh nutes dude, don't be lazy and or cheap. You can extend it out to 10 days if you want.

Well its not that i am lazy. I just think that all those nutes go to waste :/. And also if i only top water then plants don't get as much food as they did when i put in fresh water with nutes. Thats why i want to add nutes+water so that plants have enough food and water to get best growth as they can.

you need to re-read my post.

Yes, some nutrients go to waste. You can never get your plants to absorb all the nutrients you feed them in a DWC.

If your really concerned then add back 1/4 strength nutes... but then your wasting even more nutrients. Its not a big deal to have your PPM go down throughout the week.

Seedlings, Early Sprouts 100 to 250

Early Vegging 300 to 400

Full Vegetation 450 to 700

Early Blooming 750 to 950

Full Mature Blooms 1000 to 1600

Mix your water accordingly :)

Wow. Thats a good question. I can't think of any possible way you can figure out how much a given volume of nutrient will raise the ppm.

Man, it would be so fucking cool if there was like, I dunno, some kind of meter or something you would stick in the water and it would tell you the ppm. That's crazy talk though.

You made me lol.

Were you joking? I was thinking about this in the first place. I was thinking if 5ml makes like for example 2000ppm ih 10l of water then i know 1ml/10l makes 400ppm if i am correct. So if i loose 400ppm and like 3l of water then i would have 7l of water and 1600ppm left. So i would fill 3l of water to top the reservoir and i would then have 10l of water and from 1600ppm i would go down to x ppm. And since i would know that 1ml/10l makes 400ppm i could easly add nutrition? I just need to find formula for this calculation on how much does ppm drop to from 1600ppm. Or i could mix up full solution in 10l of water and measure ppm and then when i would need to top res i would add water and measure the ppm and then add nutrients.

EDIT:
Or mb like this: if i use 5ml/10l and i make 1000ppm and lose 200ppm in a day to 800ppm thats 20% of all ppm. Now i would add 20% of 5ml/10l and that is 1ml in that 10l with 800ppm to rais them back to 1000ppm?

I'm not trying to mock you but that is THE most difficult post to read to comprehend EVER. How about this plan cupcake.

When you mix your fresh nutes, measure the rise in ppm after each one and divide the rise in ppm by the total ml you added. Now you have total rise in ppm per Ml. Now figure out the proportion of each nute that you add relative to each other (example: 1 micro, 2 grow, 1.5 enhancer, .5 whatever). Multiply your 1ml ppm increases by the ratios and add them together. Tadah...you have the amount of PPM increase for adding the minimum (assuming you don't measure anything smaller than 1Ml) amount of nutrients in the same proportions as you originally did.

Example: 1ppm grow = 40 ppm, 1ml cal mag = 25ppm, one ml of liquid karma =20 ppm. Your ration is 3 grow, 1 calmag, 1 LK. So the smallest increase in ppm you can achieve is thus:
(3x40)+(1x 25)+(1x20)= 165 ppm.

So say you measure your ppm and it's 300ppm lower than you want. To find out how much of each nute to add back, you divide the desired ppm shift by the "single dose" ppm (165) and multiply that number by your ratios to get proper Ml of each.

So in this example, 300/165=2. 2x3, 2x1, 2x1 you would add back.
6ml grow, 2ml calmag, 2ml of LK.

There, noW you have the correct math to follow you method (which is technically not the best method and one that most growers don't utilize). But you didn't seem to grasp what I was alluding to in terms of letting the ppm decline and avoiding nutrient antagonism from adding to many micro nutes).

The larger issue: if your ppm are swinging that much you likely don't have a big enough reservoir.

Isn't this something similar to Lucas formula?

Ye i know it was difficult to read because i was in school and i didn't have time. But i was thinking i could make some formula for adding right amount of nutes inn. Also i was a little high on ppm/ml of nutes.

As i was reading through your post i realized that i was thinking something similar.
