DWC & Mothers

I can't find any information on keeping a mother in a DWC unit.
Do you keep the container small to make it root-bound?
Do you keep the nutrients very low to slow growth?
What do you do?

I use a 5 gallon tank just like my regular plants in veg. If she gets to tall trim her. I keep her nutes at about 800_1000ppms. Under a 400w mh

So you have 14 different strains in flower at all times?
i never said that. i have currently 14 strains and i do not keep mothers. i may have 2,3,4, or 8 strains in flower at same time, it just depends on what i want to put in and what yield i am looking for. along with that 14, 4 are new with 3-5 different phenos of each, so thats like having 20-25 strains going until i weed them out due to sex, quality and yield.

So how do you keep all those strains, that are not in flower? You let those clones veg for 6-7 weeks? Assuming your cutting a week or two into flower.

And why would you need to weed out males? If your cutting clones from flowering females?

I run a perpetual DWC and also do not keep mothers. I see my veg plants as temporary mothers, and I may choose a couple to hold back specifically for cuttings, but once they outgrow their space, they go into flower and get replaced. Half the time I do not need to do that because 7 days into flower I cut lower branches and use those for clones.

I understand what your saying Hesienburg, but technically you do have mothers, you just flower them. "Organ donors"

I have mothers, I said I don't keep them. ;) But that's because I have space issues. I can certainly see situation's where dedicated mothers are an advantage.

check my veg/clone pics in my thread in hydro, my 3 stages of flower. if i have some strains i dont need i will take cutting for cloner and toss the plants. i will never, ever again take cuttings from flower, i get much more healthy, faster growing plants when cuttings are taken from veg. having to go through revegging really messed with my schedule and my yield decreased. my veg time for plants going to flower is 4 weeks. and notice i said some are new strains, these were popped from seeds and will need to be sexed and then find the pheno i like. i do not do fem seeds.

So I gave your thread a read, didnt see anything that answers the question? Actually leads me to another, why three stages of flower? Or three transplants during flower? Im not trying to be a dick but your thread says nothing about what or why you use three stages of flower.

Getting back to the original topic, as for mothers I would say your doing something similar to hesienberg.

i quess the question your referring to is ,how do i keep that many strains? since all others were answered. and it wasnt for you to be an ass about a thread title i started just to show somebody something and then just decided to keep thread going. it is very easy to keep multiple strains without mothers you just need to be organized. dont really care who it may remind you of. troll.

LOL...troll

The question was how do you keep 14 strains without using some form of mother, since you said yourself you dont have all 14 strains in flower? Your answer to my question was to read your thread, so I did.

Maybe I missed the explanation but there's no real info there about how you go about doing this.

What I meant about you doing something similar to heisenburg, is that your both running perpetual ops.

i dont know heisenschnauser, but yes i run a perpetual grow. every three weeks i harvest 12-14 plants and rotate from there. i always have cloner, triple vegger and 3 flower units in use. sometimes i run just one strain in an aero system and a couple of others in dwc at the end of the aeros and sometimes i may have 6-8 different strains in the same aero system. i have spent a few years selecting theses strains from probably 40-50 that i have germinated or had a clone gifted to me from friends and they all have similar growth patterns and like the same nute mix and ppm levels except for a couple of personal strains i just couldnt give up on because i loved the smoke.
