Dwc in flood table

So I been thinking why can't I turn my flood table into a dwc there's already 4 air stones in my reservoir. If I leave it on flood 24/7 and add some air stones to my tray table and then a pump with 1/4" tubing to each pot what would be the difference ?

Because dwc is the method most associated with root rot. Almost every root rot thread on riu is a dwc/rdwc thread. Your idea would be worse, because the contents of your rest would constantly run through a pump, raising temps in the root zone and inviting pathogens to multiply and decreasing dissolved oxygen. I thought about it quite a bit a few years ago and concluded it's too risky. I flood twice a day and get great growth rates. Flood and drain is the best. I think it's a true statement that roots thrive best when they aren't permanently submerged.

You flood twice a day for how long each time. I've been flooding for 15 min every 2 hours. During lights on.

Chuggy, see my completed grow thread Multispectrum LED

I grew seedlings in a cooler. (lots of pics)

A cut to fit light diffuser under which were 4 large air stones

Worked great

I was thinking to employ it to grow to harvest but there's a lot of evap and consumption as plant matures

IMO, better to go F & D. Click on my signature- Tale of 2 LEDs and Mini-Me F & D

Every two hours seems excessive to me. 15 minutes right at lights on and a couple hours before lights out.

Really twice a day I think my plants would wilt? Btw I have a chiller so water temps not a problem. My tomatoes grew fastest through my first dwc before I switched to drain table so this is why I started this thread.

Since Uploader not working again, go to my DIY Mini-Me thread for before and current pics

Reveg 8/9 then 9/27

Flood every hour during lights on

I built a 12 site dwc out of a 100 gallon res.... works great. I do run bennies to prevent root rot, but I always run bennies anyway no matter what method of growing I try.

Pretty much same concept as your idea, except I'm using a 4x4 100 gallon res with lid, instead of a more shallow 2x4 flood table or something. Each site is 12" apart from each other and from the perimeter. I usually run 12 plants in 2" net pots, but I could make the outer four corners and center sites larger: like 3.5" net pots in the outer four corner sites, and a 6" net pot in the middle. This way I could just run between 1 - 5 larger plants in the larger net pot sites...

or still have the option to run 12 smaller plants utilizing all of the sites. But I have not had the need to run fewer bigger plants so far.
