DWC How much water?

Mid stage vegging and roots extend to bottom of tank and float in the water. Should I keep as little water in the tank as possible still allowing the bubbles to work? Lets say 3 inches above the stones or is that not enough?

This is a 36 gallon Res.

The water should be right at the bottom of the pot.
Either scimming across the bottom or no more than a 1/4 - 1/2 inch in the water.
Unless ur doing RDWC with sprayers.

I know when they are small and developing roots that the water is 1 or 2 inches below the net pot with the bubbles keeping things wet however not when several weeks in vegging.
Someone knows the correct answer please state it.
