If you put mylar or ideally that bubble wrap with mylar on both sides over the top it reflects heat away pretty effectively. Anything white or with insulating properties.

Its called Reflectix and its great stuff. Used it on my buckets and my remote rez in my rdwc system, also insulate the lid. I also got a chiller off craigslist.

Here is the link.

Side note: If you can put your airpump outside of the heated grow room then you will be pumping cooler air into your root zone.

There is a product called dutch master zone that is a sterilizer and prevents root rot bacteria from getting a foot hold. Lots of air and cool temps are your ticket to success in dwc.

two words. WATER CHILLER! thats all you need. it will regulate water temps. google it
That means he has to go recirculating. A good chiller is expensive. I bought and sold my JBJ artica 1/4hp for $300 on craigslist. Aquarium hobbyists use them in saltwater reef tanks.

air dosent seem to be a problem the whole thing bubbles and i have a pond pumb in there to move the water around its just about 6 hours in it starts to heat up the water almost to 26C but then again i have noticed no change in growth but i am concerned about slim and root rots at that temp i was thinking maybe a few frozen water bottles as i dont wanna go spending anymore coin then i have 2

Get a means of chilling, even if it means going rdwc. Look at it this way.. spend the money on a chiller or spend the money on your electric bill that ends up in a failed crop. Which is better?

I'm sorta following this out of interest...see how you solve it/deal with it/persevere

me-myself? I gave up on DWC: all the fcking rot, damn nute monitors, pH calibrations, Heisenberg teas, res aerators, pumps going out, blah blah blah...

just thinking; if it just gets to much bro, just throw in the towel like I did and switch to coco; you'll save some hair, sleep and money

Ill throw it out there again in case OP missed it,

Dutch Master Zone
http://www.dutchmaster.com.au/?language=english&page=product&product=GOLD_RANGE_ZONE&productpage=faqs

Like a nuke for your root zone, kills good and bad bacteria so dont bother with organics or teas if you use this, no bacteria will be alive in your rez. Its also only about $18 or so in my area. I ran this in my 8 site before and after I had a chiller and would recommend it, it will make your rez smell "pool like" at the highest recommended dose.

LIGHT STRENGTH:
Recommended for continual use right through grow and flower when water temperature is below 21C / 70F. Add Gold Range ZONE at the rate of 5 ml / 1 teaspoon per 20 litres / 5 gallons

MEDIUM STRENGTH:
Use this mid range strength whenever your water temperature reaches or exceeds 23C / 74F. . Add Gold Range ZONE at the rate of 9 ml / 2 teaspoons per 20 litres / 5 gallons

AGGRESSIVE STRENGTH:
Use this strength at first signs of a ‘less than optimal’ root zone. Using Gold Range ZONE at this strength is very effective at quickly re-establishing optimal root zone conditions. Once your plants have regained their vigour, return to using medium strength Gold Range ZONE for the remainder of your growing and / or flowering cycles. Add Gold Range ZONE at the rate of 12 ml / 2 ½ teaspoons per 20 litres / 5 gallons

I've never monitored or controlled the temperature of my DWC, nor have I used any products such as zone or even hydrogen peroxide and I've been growing in DWC for over 10 years. If you got root rot, it wasn't because your water was too hot nor was it because you didn't sterilize the water.

Just add your salts/acids/bases to the water, make it bubble, and keep ppm and pH right. I've never seen such a simple thing turned so complicated.

If you're using organic teas, you're screwed. The only thing organic in the water should be the roots.
