DWC First time grow

what up?? I just set up my DWC 4 plant. I can't find the answer's to a couple questions....

do I fill the water all the way to the bottom of the planter?

do I soak the rock wool?

Whether you're using a drip system or just air stones in the DWC tub/reservoir all you will need to do is fill the container up to about a half inch under where the net pots will sit inside the tub. The bubbles that form pop and move around fast so it will easily mist the entire net pot and lid itself.

As for the rock wool, soak it in pH 5.6-5.8 water over night then strain it out so its just damp. Do not squeeze the rock wool to get rid of water, hold it lightly in your fist and just fling it so water flies out without you wrenching down on it. Others have said to use a salad spinner.. your mileage mary vary.. just don't squeeze it and don't allow it to be sopping ass wet. By squeezing it you are removing air pockets which are necessary.

When you place the germinated seeds in the rock wool be sure to place about 25cm or so of hydroton or medium of your choice so the rock wool is not getting blasted by the mist or dripper.. it'll hold water.. a lot of water, just nicely tuck it in with a base of medium then surround it.
