DWC/BubblePonics hybrid vertical grow (v-scrog, sog)

P9210085.jpgP9230088.jpgHere is my second grow. The first was done in a mini fridge. 1 plant and I crammed a 250w light in it. I had some issues with heat, room, water circulation. I've learned and moved on to this.

It's in a DR60 tent (24x24x52). I have a 18 Gallon plastic container pumping water up to each of the four 5 Gallon buckets housing 1 plant each. In the bucket there is a spill pipe leading down through the bottom and back into the main reservoir. There is also a bubble disk in the bottom of each bucket. There is plenty of room for roots and circulation. Also, I can leave this thing only on a light timer for up to 2 weeks without even touching it! There is so much water circulating around that it is very self sufficient for long periods. Also, I can take the black hose out of each bucket and spray into a side bucket I use for water cycling. I use a gasoline bucket as it's easy to poor back in the bottom reservoir when I fill it back up.

The light is a MH 250w. I have a cool tube fitted with a PHRESH carbon filter sitting between the buckets. A commercial inline fan is pulling plenty of air though to keep it cool. I'll switch to HPS when I flower.
I'll post more on the side fridges from my previous grow to show how I conceled the fan so it operates silent and smell less. This whole 4 plant unit is in a closet and you'd never know it is there if you came in my place. I have a cloning box along side using LED's, also air filtered.

Im also using advanced nutrients

Still has some weeks of veg to fill in the space before I start flowering.

The idea of this project was complete stealth and efficiency.

You may want to look into a 400W I just upgraded my 250.

Your setup looks good and I'll be following interested to see the outcome!

Im thinking about upgrading to the 400 soon but for the purpose of the grow (efficiency) I'd like to see what I could get out of 250w. Also, utilities are included in my rent so I didnt want to spike up the electricity bill too much or they'll notice it. For now, it's free! How much was your electricity bill per month when you're running 250w vs 400w?
My last grow was a little week but I had to stop flowering since I was running out of room and the roots were beginning to suffocate. Hopefully I'll get more potent trees this time

My tent has increased my electricity by $20/ mo its hard to tell without a usage meter plugged in line my bill fluctuates more upon how much the A/C has to run based upon outside temps. Summer months I can have $300 bills winter months they drop below $100. I average out around $225 /mo for the year

PB060131.jpgHere is an update for 1 week since my last post. I changed 10 gallons of water a couple days ago and added more nuts. The seem to be doing very well, growing noticibly every couple days. Soon I need to cut the main stem and start some clones. I have not produced clones before so I'll need to do a little research prior

Man those look healthy. If your going to take clones you could top them at the same time. I use clonex gel but any hormone will work but gels are easier imo.

So here's the last update before I begin flowering. I did some LST and bent the main stems over to grow horizontal. They've really filled out. I had to take a few leaves off only to make room to attach stems to the wire.

Any ideas if I should trim some of the larger fan leaves to make room for the smaller growth? Or leave them as long as possible until they touch the light? Seams to be a lot of talk about this but both make sense.

Also, Im trying to clone with another container with two strong airstones. The clones have been in the water for about 8 days and no growth. they seem to be losing color. Ive never done this before and am having no luck. Any cheap ideas? It's just plain water and lots of air bubbles.

Hey man, lookin good. As far as your bubble cloner goes, it's the easiest way to clone IMO!!! Some tricks i figured out the first few times i cloned:
#1 - Keep the botom of the stem ABOVE the water line so that only the splashing from the bubbles are hitting the stem. Having the stem in the water slowed down the process by about a week for me, and i was constantly getting clear slime in the rez by the time they showed roots.

#2 - use ONLY PLAIN TAP WATER. I've tried R/O and distilled both with and without H202. If i use just plain tap water with NOTHING added i get roots on every clone i pull in 7-8 days.

#3 - I use rooting powder because it seems to stick to the stem a little better and last longer. You can get roots with no hormone at all but it just takes a little longer.

Hope this helps. if not feel free to PM me and i'll try to answer any more questions you have.
By the way, i'm liking your setup. I'm subbed.

This is a week and a half into flowering. Starting to show some hairs in the joints. It is continuing to grow pretty tall so I've started to tie them sideways at the tops. Hopefully this thing doesnt get too big but I have a feeling it will. Its extremely healthy and green. No problems with it at all, even was growing an inch a day at one point. I've only changed the water once at flowering so far. I plan on doing one more in a few weeks and a final for flushing. It has so much in the reservior that it doesnt need changes very often. The clones are growing roots by now as well, I have 6 of them. You were right, I was just impatient.
Thanks for the tips
