Dutch Passion, "The Ultimate"

043.jpg039.jpgHey RIU,

I had a really hard time finding any info on these, so had decided that the best way to find out was to give them a shot. I grew two plants from seed, and did very little pruning so I could see how they grew on their own. Here's my report on the results:

Strain: The Ultimate by Dutch Passion Seeds (feminized)

Growth: Fast growth in both veg and flower. The buds slowed down in the 6th/7th week of flowering, then filled in really well. (Almost like they needed a break before the last big push)

Nutes: Pure Blend Pro (veg and bloom respectively), Liquid Karma, Organican seaweed fert (used as soil and foliar feed) and some experimentation with molasses.

Yield: Just over 3 oz from 2 plants. (I suspect a larger yield would result from topping to get 4 colas. They were also put under 12/12 a little sooner than I normally would have since they got flowered with my regular crop that was started two weeks earlier than these)

Bag Appeal: Nice, uniform buds, very dense, with plenty of red hairs. Coated in frost.

Smell: A fairly sweet smell. Mild fruity tones, mixed with a flowery smell. VERY nice.

Taste: A surprisingly different (but not unpleasant) taste compared to smell. It has a full, peppery taste. Similar to the sharp taste from a skunk strain without the "skunkiness". Long lasting, earthy aftertaste that is very mild and pleasant.

The High: Potent! This stuff came on strong, but didn't knock me out. A powerful head high. Very energizing and creative. This stuff is my new "happy weed".

Comments: All in all, I give this strain 8 out of 10. She'll take lots of nutes, and grows fast. A good yielder, and potentially a great yielder with some careful pruning. Easy enough to grow that a beginner would be fine, and a more experienced grower could really push this plant to make some serious yields. As far as I've seen, it's only available in feminized seeds, which I hpe will change (I just don't like fem seeds) Hopefully I'll be able to update with some cloning info in the future.

To be clear, this report is based on slowly dried but uncured buds. I'll toss an update on here once they've had a month or so in the jars.

Thanks mcpotz. I'm hoping to see some more people grow this strain so I can compare notes. It's quickly becoming my favorite. Can't wait til I have some well cured stuff. (Gonna crack the jar at around two months)

Thanks buddness. I must confess though, when I harvest 35 plants in one shot, they don't get quite as nicely manicured. I do a nice job and all, but that Ultimate plant got some special attention. Wanted to get a real nice looking bunch of nugs for the "experiment". They sure are easy to manicure when they're that nice and tight though.

Thanks Mauler.

Not sure what wet weight was, but generally I find I lose 75% in weight when dried. The plants were put under 12/12 sooner than I normally would (at about 10 inches tall) but very quickly caught up to the crop they were put in with. They finished off at around 2 1/2 feet tall. Basically I had these seeds kind of "fall into my lap", so I decided to toss them in with a crop of bubblicous just to see what they were like. Definitely no regrets! I'm germinating my remainig seeds, and the best one will be added to my mom collection. My next Ultimate grow will be with plants vegged until they are 12 to 14 inches tall, and will all be topped. Can't wait!

ProMix (final pot size was 3 gal)
1000w (MH for veg, HPS for flower)
Nutes listed above.

This strain was hungry for nutes. I'd bet you could push it pretty hard.

Well, I cracked open the jar I had set aside for the one month test. This was one oz, vaccuum sealed in a jar on sept 22 (the day after I did this smoke report). I pulled about 1/4 oz, and re-sealed the jar to give it more time (likely take another 1/4 at two months, 1/4 at four months, and leave the last 1/4 til 6 months)

So the one month cure really did the trick. Potency was excellent, and I found it to be a really well rounded high. Came on fast and strong, but what really suprised me was how long it lasted. It was such a great high (well, still is) and has stuck with me for most of the day with very little need for "maintenance hoots". Great stuff.

The flavor was pretty close to the same, but this time around it was unbelievably smooth. In fact, that may be why it hit so fast and hard. A hit that would have me rolling on the floor gagging with most strains was like taking a little puff with this stuff. Fucking amazing!

So there's my report. Looking forward to adding the two month update! As far as I'm concerned, this is quickly becoming a must have in the strain arsenal.

Yes that's what I said. Also said they were small, and left to grow of their own accord. They were an afterthought and put in to flower with another crop (that averaged around 3.5 oz per plant) I suspect I could easily get 4 or 5 from this strain. It's a good producer, just didn't get the chance to produce much on this grow.

Stark, would you recommend this strain for a SOG? Sounds like it might stretch a bit much for it, but let me know your thoughts.

Thanks.

I can't honestly say, but my guess would be that it would do fine in a SOG. I left them to grow without any pruning so I could observe them, but not sure yet how they respond to pruning. The next crop of them I grow I'll take it easy with any pruning til I know how they handle it, but will definitely be topping for 4-6 colas (prob some of each for comparison). Really, these plants seemed like they would do whatever I wanted them to. Can't wait to grow it again (have too many strains on the go to do some right now) and experiment a little.
