I use duct tape in conjunction with foil tape. Anything else i try to fabricate with aluminum coil stock(its made for siding and fascia boards) fastening all with self tapper screws.

I don't know what its called or used for, but you can a purchase 4 or 6 in heavy duty ducting that is made from aluminum. It is made like the flex part of a drinking straw so that it will hold any shape you mold it into and it will not rip. Usually available near the range hoods and burners at home improvment stores.

You must have some serious pressure in that exhaust (get a fan speed control) or you mean it tears at the joints, in which case you need some really good heavy duty duct tape.
