What's up nerds!?

Excuse the silly name, but it truly is what it says. I don't have the room in my apartment to really set up how I want, but after coming to agreement with the lady I will use our master bathroom shower stall to convert into a small grow. It's coming along fairly well, just waiting on a last few things to show up to set it up right. Just need my fan, filter, new bulbs, and some panda and it's a done deal! I'm trying to make the best use of some of the stuff I had already, but I still need odds and ends to get the environment stable. Also snagging up a CAP Day/night thermostat controller to dial in the temps. Can't wait to get these babies under some more light!

Here's a few shots of the babies about to get buck (not in the masculine sense, but buckwild) under the 400. 2 Space Bomb and 3 Space Dawg

A few construction shots:

fansetup.jpegI was going to get a 6" Cooltube, but i figured i would give this a shot first... Trying to save a buck or two through the holiday season!

You are going to have the easiest room to clean between cycles. :eyesmoke:

EDIT holy shit and the easiest plant to water :eyesmoke:

Yeah, it's a definite plus! i have a hose for it to plug in when it is time to hose 'er down. I'm using water from my Zero filter though, i get water out the tap at about 190-195. I don't know that much about what is too much as far as ppm, but that seems too high. The Zero filter pitcher is pretty cool, actually filters water down to 0 and comes with a free TDS reader to check. They sell em at Costco for like 30 bucks. Should be adequate for a small grow. I just fill it up throughout the day and funnel it into a 5 gallon jug.

Morning everyone! It's day 4 from seed.

Just a quick update with the babies. The 2 Space Bombs are in the lead so far, fastest out the gate and biggest sets of leaves on the first node. Space Dawgs are battling hard tho, they came out of the dirt a day later than the Space Bombs. But they are catching up fast, but I think that the sativa influence on the Space bomb made them shoot up a bit faster.

These seedlings are under 1 2' 6500k t5 and 2 2' 4000k T8

Hope everyone has a great weekend! Peace, DUB

Thanks for stopping in Nugs, I plan on trying my hand at mainlining this round. Should be a lot of fun! I'm hoping for at least 3 females, and going for 8 headers in 5 gallon pots. I need to either Build a small SCROG or order me up some smaller tomato cages. DUB

Day 8 from seed:

Just an update on how the seedlings are coming along! The Space Bomb duo are still in the lead for fastest growth, but one space dawg is in hot pursuit to catch them. It also seems that the Space Bomb are a lighter green color than the Space Dawg at this point. I'm not sure if it is just characteristic of the plant, or if the soil is a bit hot for them right away. Either way growth doesnt seem to affected by it as it still is developing slightly faster.

Thanks, im pretty happy with development overall so far. I Should see leaves of 3 opened up tomorrow! Keeping conditions 73/75 on the 24 hour low/high. Relative Humidity is at 48% These seedlings germed in paper towels, went into transparent keg cups of straight happy frog. Keeping the clear cup in a red cup to keep any light off the roots. For now I have 2 cups taped together bottom to bottom ][ to make a somewhat stable platform to get roots off floor and up seedlings up in the fluoro tubes to keep em from stretching. I'll start cutting the cups shorter on bottom as the seedlings grow up to adjust height, to keep em in as much light as possible. Not the most economical way of starting seeds, but it's what i got for now! I'll get to see when the cups are ready for transplant this way, and void getting root bound. Kind of an experiment. :bigjoint:DUB

What's up everyone? I thought I would post up a quick update on my seedlings today! They are coming right along, showing good development and short internodal spacing so far.

Whats up Nerds?
I thought I would throw up a quick update on the seedlings. Coming right along, but i noticed that Space Dawg 3 has some funky traits. The leaves seem to have more spread out serrations, and is generally smaller than its siblings. It also is throwing a deformed leaf on top right now. Kinda has me worried. But, there is some blueberry deep in there, so maybe the leaf deformities are showing up on account of genetics. I'll be watching that one. Thanks for stopping by, DUB

It will work out dude... Keep an eye on it it like you would the others unless it does something.... It may want a different diet or more or less of something. maybe its just getting used to its pot or a slow grower..... It could just be a mutant... nothing wrong with that... it looks healthy as well so I wouldnt worry too much, they all look healthy though..... It may be good, it may not.... just be sure that if it turns out to be a female make sure that it stays a female... I honestly dont think too much is wrong with it other than it being on the runt-ish side of the litter... it looks a little different but thats actually normal... you always get some that dont look a like, most actually dont look alike at all but you have 2 that look similar, it shows how uniform the line is... I have 2 spacedawg females that look so much alike I cant tell them apart, I had to put them right next to each other to tell them apart or look at the tags because they looked so similar.. The leaves look slightly different...

However one hermed on me but it hasnt thrown anymore nanners so I have it sitting in the corner of my tent until it shows me some more.. I guess.. but the line is very uniform... They look a lot alike and I can definitely smell that blueberry in one of them heavily as well. Not the biggest yielders but I can tell its going to be 100% rock buds, the whole buds consist of almost no leaf and just hundreds or thousands of calyx's all piled up covered in resin... They should be just about getting ready to swell up now I'm thinking...

Looking good man. Hoping when I get home from work my Jesus OG seeds will be sprouts
Good luck with that dude, your a lucky man to be able to test those puppies! Thanks for checking in!

Whitey- Thanks for the input! I will definitely be watching for nanners when i flip these. I am going to be mainlining these as well, and i just don't know if the runt will make it... just might have to go au natural or maybe just topped. Time will tell, if it doesnt pick up the pace I may just cull it and pop two more.

Hope everyone had a great weekend! DUB

Hey everyone,

Just an update... put my seedlings into some 3/4 gal nursery pots to begin the mainlining treatment. Just waiting til the morning to take the tops out of these... and provided my cloning methods are sufficient, I'll be ready to sex the bunch. I gave them a small amount of cal/mag and Liquid Karma at transplant. Otherwise, these have just been in straight Happy Frog from day 1.

The mutant leaf on Space Dawg #3 mellowed out... but if you look at it it doesn't join together in the center of the leaf, and has a discolored blotch to it. The blotched right blades originally were kind of yellow tipped and looked possibly burned? The formation of the leaf was off which makes me think it was more of a mutant trait. The leaf looks like it was grafted together with some other strain entirely. Odd.

Space Bomb started off really similar, but SB #2 is definitely staying more squat and compact and SB # 1 is stretching out more.

The bathroom smells dank with just these 5 in there, skunky, fruity, perfume smells.

Sorry for the interruption to the journal, but I have been documenting so I thought i would share whats been going on.

at Day 23, things were looking pretty gnarly after topping back to the second node. Never gone this aggressive before and wanted to give it a shot. It slowed things down considerably, but i can see how resilient these plants are.

group 12-19.jpgSD2.jpgSB1 12-19-12.jpg

Jan 1, Day 35: 12 days after topping, the seedlings have bounced back pretty well. Everyone has now been been trained for mainlining, and clones taken.
IMG_0568.jpgIMG_0571.jpgIMG_0574.jpg

Day 43: Last night before their real light feeding of N. I gave them some soup with Mexican and a little Indonesian bat guanos, 1/4 teaspoon Dr Earth Kelp and Seaweed extract, 4 ml liquid karma, 5 ml cal/mag, about half teaspoon of unsulfured molasses and a tablespoon of worm tea extract. Brewed for 48 hours. I also use this solution cut as a foliar. Clones seem to stay healthier when I use this stuff to mist, also.
IMG_0579.jpgIMG_0585.jpg

and today Day 44:
IMG_0599.jpgIMG_0598.jpgIMG_0593.jpgSD3 1-10-13.jpg
SB 1 1-10-13.jpgIMG_0605.jpgIMG_0588.jpg

Side note: I ended up breaking off one of the branches at the initial stages of mainlining on SB #1, so I matched it up on the opposite side and continued the process on the next node. It worked out tho, since the growth on this plant has been one of the fastest so it is catching back up fast. It's about to get topped for 8 as soon as she spreads out a little more. Thats why it has a bit of a z shape in the manifold.

Hope all is well out there, Nerds! DUB

Quick update...

Everything is coming along nicely. I had a good response from the last feeding, the seedlings took to the guano soup well. I think they will be getting another one soon but a little bit stronger recipe. I am on the fence with the super soil this round, as I have to figure out how to get a bag or two... but i here some Seattle area dispensaries are keeping bags of it on hand. I'll just have to make some calls.

SB#1 is topped for 8. But of the two Space Bomb plants I predict it male, if female not a Tiny pheno by the growth rate and structure in comparison to #2. Both do have a very similar leaf pattern.

SB#2 has progressed well, but it is looking to be somewhat nutrient sensitive. In comparison to SB #1 it is much more compact and slightly spindly. The tiny pheno is supposed to be somewhat small and runty in comparison to it's siblings, and that kinda fits the bill here.

SD#1 is the overall champ for growth and taking to ML. It has 4 bulky main branches and has trained fairly effortlessly. But in comparison to the other seedlings, the Space dawg were a good couple days behind the Space Bomb as far as being out of the soil. #1 caught right back and then exceeded the Space Bombs. It is the most developed plant overall. I predict this one to be male however as it is a bit more lanky, and it never fails that the fastest one in the seeds you start... your favorite one so far....is a male. Just a guess tho. If I'm wrong... well, I won't be upset!

SD#2 Not far behind SD #1, #2 is fairly similar, but the branches are more difficult to position and work into place. Growing fast like #1, just a slightly smaller frame.

SD#3 The smallest of all three Space Dawgs. This one has been a pain. It is super slow vegging, shows mutant leaves, and is a runt by all definitions. I think it failed to develop a good base of roots while it was a baby, it bends up out of the soil at a 45 at the base, and seems to almost continue to a 90 under the soil, favoring only one side of the pot. I'll see how a well rooted clone compares to this, but so far the clone is well rooted like the others but lagging in growth. It is throwing off miniature leafsets it seems.

I topped all clones today, getting ready for the next round.

Just updating Space Bomb today, as they deserve some attention! Both have decided to show me pistils! Stoked on 2 girls so far! I am ending my 7th week from breaking the soil with this group of beans, and my first grow journal. I feel like i am getting into a good rhythm with the plants and the documentation.

But in other news, I spotted male preflowers on Space Dawg #1 and he got the chop. Not really anything I would think to be of good breeding stock considering it was the first to show me sex, and the fastest growing of the group. Not favoring strong drug traits. He did smell pretty nice, and was easy to work with. A good building block for getting the hang of mainlining.

Without further delay:
Space Bomb Ladies!

Clones for the next run:
IMG_0267.jpg

I gave a 3/4 strength feeding of guanos and worm tea. They seem to be really perky and happy now, so I hope i hit the sweet spot on the nutes and havent pushed too hard yet.

I trashed my Space Dawg #1 and his clones i had kept, which helped open up the small foot print of light I have. Everything should be ready to go for flower soon! gotta transplant into some 5's! If i only get the two ladies I might pick up a couple of 7 gallons, and go 16 headed.

Time only tells. Time to go puff some herb and chill out for the evening!
