as you can see in the veg photo, I didnt top the far left one. I have always topped my plants/ super cropped them.. I decided to try to let a couple go "natural" and see if the "big" cola in the end is worth it.

Hi Dubba,
I wanted to know, How did your yield size change when you switched from T5 to HPS?
I am getting only about 1oz. from my plants. I also wondered how your electric bill changed?
Your plants look super.
Talk to you soon.

Wow, I knew that water temp was really important to get cuts to root, but now I have proof.

I have been having problems with my last few crops, fighting water temps that would get up into the high 80s and even 90s if I didn't take steps. And this was in the basement, nowhere near any heat sources. I guess the pump just builds up heat.

So I set up a spare room with a portable AC and set it real low. Started the cloner with gallons of water/solution that I had refrigerated. The water temps have stayed well below 80, and I mist the cuts a couple times a day.

Well, it's only been four days and I have little roots already. Amazing.

Yup, that's what I did when it was still in the basement. I actually had about 20 12oz water bottles I rotated. That's what would fit in the ez clone 30. I had to change them four times a day sometimes. I have determined that it is easier to have a cool room than to try and stay ahead of water temp.

I spend plenty of time in my room, so rotating ice is easy.....bigger chunks of ice last longer, I put 2 of the half gallon jugs in my ezcloner....i do have a 60 though...

This will be my first grow having them under the hps start-finish so i'm not 100% sure. I know the buds are way more dense. My last grow under t5's i pulled a little over a QP with 5 plants all only about 20 inches tall when they finished. electric bill is about 50-70 more a month. running a 600watt hps 12 on 12 of and t5's 18-6 , fans etc.. im cutting my plants today ill post some pics

you can get an aquarium thermometer, not one of those floating ones but a digital one with little probe and suction cup, for less than ten bucks.

It's very easy to get an accurate estimate for elec consumption with a given setup. You know the wattage of your lights (1k, 600, etc) and you know your KwH rate from your elec bill. It's simple math of watts times hours times rate. That's what your grow will add to your elec bill, minus the T5s you remove.

If i had no AC (and it is not an option) and was running hydro, i'd look long and hard at a chiller and CO2. You're gonna be finding balls in no time with this weather, even if you keep the rez temps reasonable.

Not sure what you mean by finding balls lol. I don't do hydro. So you're saying CO2 will also help reduce temps? Makes sense, my little CO2 cartridges that I clean my Mosquito Magnet with get frosted up when released.
