Has anyone ever used this bulb, im looking into going clf and came across this particular bulb. I was just wondering is anyone has any experience with this or any comparison to other cfls.

No information on that particular light but hope it helps with showing what it could do.

Well with my light (250watt dual spectrum) i will be using it for the veg and flowering.. The place i brought it from also stated it will do both cycles of the grow and it is also advertised in places stating this :)

just thought I would bump this one time to see if anyone has had any luck with these Sun God/Lotus bulbs? They do look really interesting and the youtube videos show that they are rather large.

Jack of all trades - a master of none. And a huge loss of light is wasted inside the cone

What seems good in this case is not so good. Yes it will probably flower, but...

mmj has different spectral requirements for veg as well as flower. And then there is the different requirements for Indicas v Sats.

You can now buy low watt led screw bulbs in warm white or daylight. Easy to mix and match + no mercury + long life (years)+ excellent results

Here's 2 girls @ 5 weeks from seed under a ufo 90 (I already owned it) + a couple of low watt screw bulb leds (and one 13w warm white cfl- which I could take out). I have more on order from www.chinabuye.com (1/4 the price of Lowes/HD) + free shipping. In the photo they are in a cheap vanity fixture. I also bought parts to make a 3 ft fixture

I am familiar with the dual spectrum lotus cfl bulbs. I am a newbee and unsure about LED or cfl grow lights , I didn't know where to turn or where to start. I really wanted LED but was afraid to spend so much for a product I was not sure about. After @ a month I said WTF and decided for the price I would give cfl a try ,,, no harm , low cost if it didnt work. I already had some plants growing just outside the veg. stage. I placed my plants inside a homemade grow box with my new lotus mini ;s ,,,,, Hot Dam within days budding flowers everywhere.I did not veg. with the lights yet , but flower,,,, they will ! ,,,tFlora;8068889]Jack of all trades - a master of none. The amount of light lost between the individual glass tubes that oppose each other and the better than 50% of the lamp surface area that actually curls in and faces each other is energy lost that does not make it to the canopy. This is the problem with most CFL lamps that have coilex type designs. The energy lost between the coils and opposing glass cylinders is wasted in a poor geometrical design for plant lighting. This particular lamp brings that to a new low. The nice thing about fluorescent is that you can go with longer tubes that provide more PAR energy to the canopy and with a well designed reflector move the energy from behind the glass tube around it and to the plant canopy where it will do you some good.

I've been running one of the Mini 6500k from veg all the way through. The bulb is awesome, its lumen output is 9500 for 125w, and the dispersion of light is incredible. Worked real well in a large reflector dome, works even better just as is. Cause of the low heat, and high lumen output, I would do a an entire grow with 4 of these. I would use 2 6500k, 1 mixed 6500/2700k and 1 2700k for veg, and swap for flower. 2 2700k, 1 6500k and still the 1 mixed 6500/2700k. That would be 500w, 30,000 lumens. Still not as much lumens as a 400w hps or mh, but lots less heat, and since the lamps are all self ballasted, its is a true 500w draw for the cfl bulbs. Four of the lotus minis, I am talking about the mini bulbs, the standard lotus runs 200w and emits 15,000 lumens, four the minis could cover four plants through veg and into flower, and you might want some supplemental cfl or led bulbs placed where you feel. Looking at it, running three standard lotus bulbs is a true 600w draw, and emits 45,000 lumens, which is half that of the 600w hps, but the cfl spectrum is much more focused and tuned for photosynthesis, a lot less 'wasted' light spectrum. As for cost, the standard lotus is around $75 right now, so three of those would be $225 which is about the cost of what you need for a good hps. Four of the minis would be $160 which is about the cost of possibly well maintained, kindly used gear. So the value may be there, cause these lotus bulbs are cool enough to be 3 inches from any part of our girls. I have checked this and confirmed with a temp meter.

awesome..i am gonna get two of these for my small box grow. i have been looking for some cool running, larger wattage cfl's. also i like that you dont need a mogul to medium converter for these. how big are they compared to your fist? fairly smaller rite? i mean, quite a bit smaller then the 250 one....

I'm sure you know their sizing by now. Any update on how they're working?

For any1 who cares mine work great i use led as well but hang 2 mini lotus bulb above the canopy, the lotus bulbs and supplemental cfls 23w coils gave me a decent harvest though it should be noted that as ive found b4 as well as many others is density is the prob but buds were frosty and looked gorgeous , ive since upgraded to led and 5 gal dwcs (just made the switch) but will use my lotus bulbs till they crap out... Might even miss them a lil n order a cpl more after they die, ps they last a long time if treated good ;)image.jpg

Nice. Which Crees did you go with?
well, I believe there are only 2700K and 5000K as far as I know. that's all they had at the homedepot I went too. so, I got both, so I can switch em out from vegging to flowering, but on both ends of veg and flower, I do have some of both, just more blue lighting (2700) in veg, and then more reds (2700K) in flower. I grow for my own personal use, and don't have any sort of "operation" setup, but for my small needs I got about 14 bullbs in all, and I get pretty decent yields, would I get a bigger yield with a big ass sodium halide, yea, I am sure I would, but I am very satisfied with what I got going. Beats the fuck outta cfls I assure you that.
