Drying problems smelling like hay need help!

Hello everyone I'm having some issues Drying. I've been able to grow nice buds that smell great the whole way threw tons of crystals trichomes harvested at the right time and smells great when I harvest and trim but as soon as I start to dry them they develop this hay smell and taste. Keep in mind that I live in a desert climate (Nevada) and humidity rarely gets over 30% RH However in my drying environment I was able to keep a RH of 60% and 65 degrees ferinheight with consistent airflow consistently. I for some reason am still getting this hay smell. Ive read a few threads where some say its genetics but I don't believe mine are bad because they were smelling the whole way threw until I started drying them. The plants were Skunk #1 from sensi seeds. Ive done this process 4 times with all different genetics and they all have the same issue with same drying method and cure in 65%RH with consistent burping. Can someone with some experience on maximizing Terpenes smell and taste please steer me in the right direction on how to get this smell to stay with the plant and how to get the taste consistent so I don't run into this problem anymore. I have one more master kush that's in flower right now that smells fantastic and I don't want to make the same mistake. Its very frustrating making this far all the time only to be let down by bad taste and smell so if someone has the right answer that would be appreciated thank you.

So should I just leave them in the same drying environment and hope for the best? they are still pretty moist the outside is just getting a little brittle but the inside is pretty spongy stems still have plenty of flexibility as well to. They have been drying for 5 days now in that environment should i wait a week before pushing the panic button?

could also have to do with to much chemicals thru out the grow not flushed right few issues can cause this not just the drying space itself

I used fox farm Ocean Forest soil only threw out veg and I used tiger bloom in flower but flushed for 2 weeks with 6.5 PH water. Whats your opinion on what I should do at this point?

What chemicals could be present? Do you mean nutrients? Because nutrients are necessary for all organic life. They don't just go away by feeding the plant plain water.

Is flushing really a myth ive always been told to flush but obviously it dosent do anything to help me with this smell issue lol. I harvested when my trichs were 90 percent cloud 10 percent amber and the hairs were receding into the bud and 80 percent red to white ratio. do you really think I should have let this go longer?

It's not a myth. It's pretty much running water threw your medium to get rid of salt build up. Or excess nutrients. . When I say myth I'm talking about the idea that recklessly overloading on nutrients and believing that flooding it with water to bring it to a screeching stop a week or two before harvest is the right and best way..I believe a plant shouldn't be given what's it's not going to eat.. bigger plants need more food but more food doesn't necessarily mean bigger plants.. plants should gradually fade away imo...

Thats some good advice thank you. Thanks everyone for your help im going to try the solutions given to me.

putting the plants in 24 hours of darkness before chopping helps IMO. 5 days is a little soon, so see where they are in a week. Like stated earlier, they should be drying more uniformly rather than brittle on the outside and wet on the inside. Maybe next time you can dry in a smaller contained environment? I keep my RH at 65% and it takes about 10 days, almost too slow sometimes. Heat will kill smell/taste as well, even while growing if you have a timer go out or something that gets the room hot, it could take some time to recover those oils.

well theres ur issue ffof u no how many people we get saying that there buds tast funky from ffof im really surprissed u made it that far with ffof ;) i do no that ffof has alot of shit in it when i mean alot i mean alot why it has major clumping issue's or u gotta mix it 2 to 1 with perlite even then its still very hot soil next time look into useing a pro soil like bvb or canna alot of people swears by fox farm but trust me mate its a nasty shitty yank product that bad it aint even aloud into my country due to the chemicals that are in it and use are smoking plants that are grown in it lol

I dry mine a minimum of 7 days and usually 12 days depending on the size and density if the buds. They always smell like grass when they dry it's a natural process. Chlorophyll is being broken down and that's what your smelling. Mine get their awesome.smell after about 3 weeks of curing. Read that sticky and follow what it says and you shouldn't have a problem. You need to be as patient and careful with the drying and curing as you were throughout the whole grow.

try earth juice,organic line, our last 3 batches tested over 20 % thc,and great taste.fox farm is a joke.
