Drying Problem

Hey Guys!

I have some bud sitting in my dry room and its been like 6 days and the stems still arent snapping...
I have use a normal carboard box (one that you get with a lcd pc monitor)
cut a hole in the bottom for a pc fan and put a string through the top to hand the weed inside.
the pc fan is blowing into the box and the box is sealed with the weed hanging inside - its drying extremely slowly - but it is starting to smell really good! it past the smelling like hay stage and is starting to smell more like bud now.

any advice? is this ok - can i just leave it to hang for as long as it needs?

humidity is @ 78% today - but with a fan blowing directly into the box id say that figure drops a good amount.

Moving humid air around doesn't lower the humidity. 78% is pretty freakin high. You might want to invest in a dehumidifier. Or at lest make sure you getting exchange through your room... not just blowing humid air around. The plants themsleves will add to the humidity as they dry

A little extra info -> Last night i decided to test some of the drying weed
so i rolled a lil joint - it smoked PERFECTLY. lit without going dead - smoked from start to finish and tasted ok
is that an indication of dryness?

Ya i guess. When you broke up the weed did it feel dry enough? I mean if the shits smoking "perfectly", then trim it or manacure it or whatevers left, pop it in jars or gallon bags and start burping it after you leave it out of the box for a little while.

It was really sticky when i cut it up - stuck to the scissors even. but when rolled it smoked really well! i expected it to go out but it didnt. it was nice and smooth

Easiest way to know is to trim a few buds into a mason jar, insert a Caliber IV hygrometer ($19) and give it 30 minutes or longer to see what the humidity is. I try to get down to 65-68% before jarring, then burp to hold it at 60-65%.

But, my ambient humidity is anywhere between 20 and 50%. Yours being near 80% will probably require something to dehumidify to get it lower.
