Drying for the first time, any input ?

Hey guys, today I chopped down my first girl.
After trimming I hanged the plant on a wire in my grow box, this is because I have fans that circulate air in there and I dont wanna setup another box just for drying. I placed a cardboard between the lights and the hanging plant so as to not get any direct light on the bud, just what reflects of walls, and its not much, tho its not pure dark either.
Is this going to be ok for drying my girl in 5 - 7 days ? how can I tell when its good dry enough to start curing ?
Also, given my noob experience the plant has quite a few small/popcorn buds, they are trichome rich and ripe only small,
will they dry faster than the main cola just cuz they are small ?

sounds fine, when the stem of the main plant can snap, its done drying. the popcorn will dry faster. I have heard of people putting their bud in an oven thats OFF and the ambient heat will dry it out.

Yes, that setup should be fine, yes the popcorn buds will dry quicker. As for when to cure, you will recieve many opinions on that, personally I would wait until you get just the slightest "crisp" on the outside and then jar and burp. There are quite a few threads here about drying and curing.

Thankx for good advice, i will be sure to check on the popcorn often and maybe jar it before the main cola ? that sound like a good thing to do ?

I have the same problem, one girl still flowering. I am using a carboard box placed just outside the grow tent, with the end of the intake duct shoved into a hole at the bottom of the box, so the tent exhaust fan is drawing air in through my drying box first. If you have any ingenious methods to share let me know, because I'm aware that this method may dry them too quickly.

take a branch and bend it ; if it "snaps" it dry enough to start curing. You can hange them anywhere as long as the place you choose remains dark
